    Broken Windshield Frame?

    My boat is a 1999 21i. Last season the C-chanel frame for the walk through window split at a seam. It's on the side with the hinge on it. I've called every boat shop local to me and get the same answer "call Taylor made" they're the only place to get replacement parts. I called Taylor Made and they said they couldn't help me because the window is a Water Bonnet. So am I just S.O.L. on this I feel like replacing an entire Windhsield is a little excessive because a frame split. I don't even care if it has the hinge on it, I'd be fine with replacing it with a straight piece, we never use the window anyways.

    the only number/logo on the window is, 20180511_132724.jpg..unless there's a serial# stamped somewhere I haven't seen

    I called Taylor Made and they said they couldn't help me because the window is a Water Bonnet.
    Ford tells me the same thing every time I call about my Chevy. Seriously, why are you SOL, is water bonnet out of biz?

      taylor bought waterbonnet. They still use the name and still produce parts from what I understand. So all he needs to do is call Waterbonnet.

        My understanding is Taylor Made bought Water Bonnet years ago. Searching for Water Bonnet just pulls up Taylor Made's customer service number.

        I'll grab a picture tonight if I make it home before dark

          This is on main windshield frame. You can see where it cracked around the 2 screws top and bottom. And how its starting to allow the glass to start pulling out.

            The bummer is the fact that this piece has barrels for the hinge. Most these pieces are just sandwiched over the glass.
            Get the walkthru window hinges disassembled and whole middle piece out of the show. On the outside of your glass is most likely a removable trim piece at the base all along the deck. If you get it out there should be some Philips head screws that are holding the windshield to the deck. I would remove just enough to get that tiny black screw out at the base. The one at the top is easy. Remove the support strut.
            After that with some wiggling and some encouragement that whole piece should come off of glass. The rubber between the aluminum and glass may fight you a bit.
            Once you get it off you could strip paint. Have a good welder repair it. Then repaint and re- assemble.

            If I couldn't just get the parts, that's what I would do. Even if you get the parts you will have to do most of the above to get the lower screw out.

              my thought was the same to pull it and weld it. Then I was looking at it and figured I'd just machine a whole new piece minus the hinge for the window, like I said since we don't use it anyways. I was just hoping to avoid a little extra time at work cutting a new one, but not the end of the world. Just thought I'd see if anyone here knew a source for a replacement before I started working.
