Question for Owners with teak/wood swim platform...

    All,

I am currently building a custom wood platform to replace my old, beat up, and fading fiberglass platform on my 24V. Pics to come on that!

I wanted to as those owners with wood platforms a couple questions on how exactly the platforms are secured to the brackets? My fiberglass platform is bolted through the brackets and into glassed in threads built into the platform.

Are the wood platforms bolted with some sort of similar metal treads built into the wood? Or, are they simply screwed from the bottom through the platform into the wood? Lastly, (I couldn't imagine this) are they thru-bolted from the top down with bolts and nuts?

    Thank you for any input!

They are just screwed into the brackets from the bottom. Once the wood gets wet, it will swell and naturally tighten around the screw. Make sure you don’t get too long of screws. You’ll want to sand it down once every few years and you don’t want the screws poking through.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

They screw in from the bottom with #8 stainless screws 1!/2" when building you will need a lot of them and #6 I believe.IMG_0883.jpgIMG_0901.jpgIMG_5109.jpgIMG_0905.jpg

This is the one i built last year the old platform became the upper (cut down of corse) The bottom I made a pattern off my buddies 2005 22ve surprisingly it fit my 2000 21v.I do still have the pattern if you are in need of it.I have a couple out there already.but kept the master for my self. So of you need one just let me know. pretty easy to make. (pattern) The platform is somewhat easy i did use a lot of clamps.

Like I said it was my old platform wood. I made it my self just kinda made a real small higher platform the idea came from this forum I believe. Just put on my own mods for the grill.(fat kid got to eat)

That is an awesome idea. That slanted transom on the V does not allow for sitting.

And is a very large step up in your boat. Most older people like me (50) step sideways on the bar first then into the boat. Not so much on my boat but my buddies. His is like yours lots of slope and long way up. We did his first for a year(I didn't even own a Tige yet) When i got my Tige I didn't go a week and built both of us one out of teak. Like i said mine is more for the grill. His is for the grill and necessity We did do the first one out of cider to see if he would like it with the intension of doing teak. I have the pattern for it also.

They are pretty easy to make.I do have the pattern if you would like to try to build one. I will ask my bud what he had in wood for his. It was last year no chance in remembering that.

Love the grill! Where do you stash it when not in use?

Please do! If you could send more detailed pictures that would work too!

I'm pretty sure the teak for my upper was $190.
Jet- the way that grill is mounted you could use it while surfing. No need to store, but they fit in the back storage area even with a full sac.
