    Hull modification for my ASR?

    Hello all,

I've read in a few threads where people have done a hull modification on the ASR to match the RZX specs. I live in Utah and have heard that Germaine can do it, but when my wife called them to ask about it, they laughed at her and told her they hadn't heard of such a thing.

Any suggestions on who to talk to or where to go for this? I'm very disappointed in my ASR's surf performance. It already has TAPS3 installed, but hasn't had the hull modification.

I'd also love to hear if any of you have done this mod or have surfed behind an ASR that had it done.

    Thanks for your help!

I'm surprised by the response from Germaine. We have been told that Germaine in Mesa AZ are the ones that came up with modification, but also that they're holding it pretty close. I don't recall hearing from anyone who has this set up now. I do know there are a couple ASR's for sale in the Vegas area that are supposed to have the mod done. It might be worth the trip to test drive them and see if you like it or now. I think there was a rough quote going around here of $7000 for the mod and taps 3 installed. You may get away with half that cost.

On a side note, nice to have another tige owner on here from Utah. We bounce between Willard Bay and Jordanell. Where do you boat at?

I have always heard that the boats that have been modified were done at the factory.

I have never heard of a dealer doing it..nor would I trust one to honestly. They sell boats not build them. It doesn't take much wrong to really mess up a hull. Especially considering these hulls have built in flaws like pockets and hooks.

Im just guessing, but I am assuming that was thrown out as original poster already has TAPS3 installed on his ASR....
Regardless good fiberglass and gel coat work isn't cheap, and I've yet to see cheaply done fiberglass/gel coat work that is good...

The mod isn’t cheap to do and have it clean like no one touched it...

                    I stand corrected then....

I'm sure your doing it right if the factory is OK with you guys doing it.

You should get that Moose guy from wakeWORLD to do it.

It would be material added to a hull I believe....so that would not concern me in the least. It’s probably stronger afterward?

I've done Jordanelle twice so far, but more of a Lake Mead and Lake Powell family (when we can make a real trip of it).
