    New Tige owner

    Hello Everyone...

    Happy Friday all..

So I bought a Tige last year and so far I love it!! It is a 2006 22v, Bought it from the original owner, garage kept with 237 hours on it. So far it has been a great boat.

Couple of things that I would like to ask for help on, I have looked but I cannot find a direct answer, I am in need of a new tower light and Taps gauge.... Can someone help??

    Thank you in advance
    Nick

    Welcome to the Tige family!

Are you sure the taps gauge is bad? Could be the coil on the actuator or the wiring. Take one of the green wires off the back of the gauge. With your ohm meter check across both green wires. 240ohms, actuator is good and gauge is bad/has no power ground. 1.1 ohms you have a direct short somewhere with the wires. OL the coil is bad or the wire is severed somewhere.

Contact any Tige dealership and have them get you a quote on the taps gauge if the gauge is bad.

Lots of lights that can be used for the tower. I'm sure others will chime in for suggestions.
    Oh Yeah!

New Tige owner as well, just bought my 08 Z1 last month. When I did Inspected mine I noticed that the taps gauge wasn’t working either, I asked them to fix it before I bought it.

They did and they said they replaced the taps ram upper mount, apparently the gauge sender is in that portion of the ram. Although that’s just what they told me I wasn’t there to actually see what was replaced for sure, but it works now.

Love that color scheme... welcome to the Tigé club my friend! Where was that pic in Cali?

Also, as per the Taps Gauge... have you checked the fluid level already? I am assuming that your Taps is moving up and down still but that your gauge isn't showing the movement? I know I had some loose wires under the dash that you may want to investigate... I also recommend ensuring the fluid is topped off as well... Pain in the buns to access in some boats but worth taking a look at. I took out my whole reservoir and rebuilt it a few years back as I was getting water in mine... Sometimes the hydraulic pistons (think that is the right name) that move the plate up and down are not water tight and need replacement as well. Best of luck and make sure you post your findings so others can learn from your experience. Don't forget to post lots of pictures as many of us are visual people..

        Cheers!

Sorry to hijack. I thought the taps 2 actuator was electric for some reason, and it didn’t require fluid. If it is indeed hydraulic what service is required and how do you go about checking and refilling? I’ve not seen any maintenance notes on this component so very curious.

Some years were electric and some hydraulic. It seems they switch back and forth every couple of years, haha. Someone else can correct me if I am wrong, but it seems electric ones are nice because they are maintenance free, and easier to replace. But they fail more often. Hydraulic ones have a fluid reservior that should be checked on periodically and are just a little more work to replace, because of the fluid and all.
              Be excellent to one another.

Thank you. I will try this today after work.

I would like to stay with the factory light, only because there is a mount already there, But I will look at some aftermarket lights also. Just didnt want to have to put the light poll up all the time since I have a tower light.

Thank you ! The pic is in Cali, Lake Millerton. It close for me, so I go often. This year I would like to try and venture out a bit more and see other places.

Taps Gauge, Everything works but the gauge. Taps Button, Taps tab, and actuator all work, just not feed back on the gauge. I did check the ground and all the basic wiring under the dash.

fish179, Let me know if you do find a solution for your Taps Gauge... I have the same situation with my '00 21V, and am looking for a fix. :-]

Also, did you figure out how to fill the Taps reservoir, or is your electric? (I found my pump in the rear starboard compartment. It has a dark brown cover, but I cannot figure out how to "fill it" or check the level?)

Schnate, first is your taps plate working??? If not report back.
If so check did loose grounds and that stuff under the dash, then make sure the green wires are getting 240ohms like KoolAid stated. If they are seeing the 1.1ohms your actuators or at least the upper portion with the position sensor wil probl need replacing.
Maybe someone knows a way to check and see if the taps gauge will move too.

As far as checking it goes. I cannot see mine without removing the upper portion and the motor. IIRC it’s only 4 screws and the whole upper black box will come off. Then you can just fill with any ATF fluid.
