Congrats. Welcome to the forum. You will find tons of info around here. If interested use the search bar and you will find some info about your VX brackets. 18cracing has the most in depth write up on doing the mod from start to finish.
Are you going to be listing or running a shaper??

Btw, nice tow vehicle as well. Cant make out badging from pic but looks like a big C. What year?

                That's a sharp looking boat!

If you get a chance, post pics of the underside of your swim platform brackets. My spidey senses are tingling with the angle of your Vx.

You sir have the first generation Vx brackets. You can tell because they had the gaps (holes) in them.

If you've never followed this topic before, it means that your Vx is at a very shallow angle. This angle means your boat needs an excessive amount of weight to produce a large wave. The Vx effectively turns your 23 foot boat into a 25 foot boat. Tige actually produced them wrong the first time, so they did a warranty fix to provide a second generation of the bracket. It created a steeper angle on the Vx and thus made the boat more useable with less than 12 people on board. I use the Gen 2. They also made a Gen 3 afterwards to make it steeper still.

In 2015 they went right to an adjustable Vx so you could pick your poison on the fly.

I don't want to sour you on your new boat purchase. I surfed mine for a year before I made the change. However I think you'll find the wave is not as impressive as it "should" be. The change in brackets will make a difference.

here are some threads on it:

What sort of ballast does it have?

I emailed Tige' and they sent me an edited part of the original invoice...Surf Ballast System.

Can the updated brackets be purchased? Do I need to contact Tige' directly and beg & whine? I bought used from a non-Tige' dealer...

Yes they can be purchased. I would email Tigé directly and ask. Since this is a recall thing they might give you a deal.

Once you get the boat in the water I'm sure guys will recommend other enhancements such as more ballast and a suck gate.

Any idea what the updated bracket cost?

I am reading that for the time being I am better off without the VX extension since it is at the wrong angle?

I think that is fairly subjective, and depends on how you plan to run the boat. When that boat was built and VX was engineered pretty much everyone was running their boats listed to the surf side. Now most are running even weight and some kind of surf shaper/gate device. I think most have found that with the VX on a 23 ft boat you have to run a lot of weight in the rear to really sink the VX. We have one customer that his VX sits in his garage as he claims his wave is better without. Hes running some big ol 1100-1200lbs L bags and a Ronix shaper. Hes a few hundred miles away so don't see his boat much and don't know what version brackets he has.
