    Bunk set up

My lift used to have a X23 on it. I will be picking up my new R23 in May. Anything I need to be concerned about with regards to it fitting on the lift as far as the bunks go? Or are the hulls similar enough i shouldn’t have to change anything?

That’s something you just need to take a look at and make a judgement call. You want your bunks to avoid all your intakes and chines if you can and be high enough for good clearance. Might take some trial and error, and some problem solving on the spot. Have your tools ready. Maybe you’ll get lucky!

We have an R23/z3 trailer without a boat on it. I will try and measure bunks later today and post numbers for you.

Outer set of rear bunks are squared up. 71" outside to outside of 2x6.
Inner bunks are tapered. About 45" outside to outside and rear and taper down to 42" outside to outside at front.
Front bunks (not pictured) are super tapered. 22" outside to outside (2x4s on front bunks) and 10" outside to outside at front. Is a Boatmate trailer for z3/r23.

Dont hace experience with lifts, but if you cant set tapers I would say go wider on the inner set of bunks. Inner portion of bunks sit right next to a chine so if you are tight you will be sitting on a chin. Could set them at 46-48" and be fine.

No problem. Always happy to help, and congrats on the new boat.

Lifts aren’t very precise, and are often passive tilting on the bunks. Make sure the bunks don’t rest on critical components. I have successfully fitted 5-6 boats in lifts using the WAG method.

You got it! Take a look, set the bunks, try the boat. Adjust, try again. Repeat if necessary. Standing out on the hoist members while they are wet to adjust is the trickiest part. I have dropped a socket or two into the abyss.

Hoists move so slowly and are gentle enough that it is hard to hurt anything. Just have to make sure the tracking fins and prop shaft are safe and then can make small tweaks from there.
