    LibTech

Anyone ever had their mitts or feet on these new LibTech wakesurfers?

I love my boards from Chaos and SC for sure—Just very curious about the construction of these?

Hmm, look like nice boards. In video I just watched, seemed like they use a material that is more "indestructible"? Maybe I misunderstood that part....but either way, be nice to try one. LOT of boards I wanna try and this was just added to the list, lol.

No I think you understood that part. The skins are tougher they purport.

Lib tech makes great snowboards as well as their ocean surfboards are very good. I have seen a few in shops but if the wakesurfer is similar they are very strong and look very good

I've owned LIb Tech snowboards on and off for almost 2 decades now...if it's anything like their snowboards they will be amazing....

Very interesting! They don’t have a lot of sizing data—and the volumes seem a little low for my “large frame.”

I may have to call them up and chat.

Lib Tech is run by a larger company called Mervin manufacturing. They make some great skis as well.

Agreed here. I love my lib tech snowboard and I think they were the first to do a lot of things on a snowboards including a hybrid shape to get the best of both worlds out of camber and rocker profiles, and changed the shape of the edge from traditional to magnatraction (basically wavy edge) to help hold the edge. Certainly helpful for the northeast icy conditions. I hope they help to push wakesurfing the way they did snowboards! Although I am guessing their boards are not going to work for my large frame either though...

I’m betting it’s pretty nice. It’s mostly just an ocean board built for 3’ surf and they have two sizes I think? I would think it would be great for a larger fellow.

I’ve owned a couple Gnu snowboards and loved them dearly. Libtec was originally a surf company that moved into other things but surfing is its core.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

It’s length and volume measurements seem like it may not carry my poundage. Perhaps shape plays a large factor and needs to be considered.

225# is 225# unfortunately! I love the durability storyline.

Once up on plane, volume has nothing to do with it. Surface area is the only factor. Since we don’t have to actually catch a wave, we only need enough structure to keep it from snapping in half. I have a 3/8” thick board that supports my 195 perfectly fine. My daily driver is a 3/4” thick surf shape. Thickness has become more of a feel thing for the rails more than anything. I don’t like shaped rails so I really don’t need anything beyond 3/4”.

I’d like to point out that Nick will probably see this and give us a real answer. Until then, I’m sticking to my story.

I got to put my hands on that new LibTech today. I didn’t get to ride it or anything. Just pick it up a give it a good once over. Color me impressed. Really nice board. Beautifully finished. Weight felt perfect. Felt like it was durable. I really, really want to ride one now.
