Considering FAE on 2017 RZX2

Anyone know where the new ones are coming from? Did Tige buy the rights and are now producing them or is Tige ordering them from Larry? I heard one cannot order the new ones from Larry.

As far as through bolting. I’m thinking about experimenting with a butterfly type nut. This way I don’t have to get a wrench in there.

Dont forget some split lock washers if you go this route.

I do not know who builds the OEM units, but they are a surf pipe/FAE and the use is licensed like Correct Craft and MB. I guess Malibu also. Would only make sense that for a period of time, an FAE for a newer model will have to come through Tige. This offsets the licensing.

on paper, I agree 100%. In reality, im wondering if the tip is still well within the prop wash zone, so no effect.

FAE is still built by Larry who now has a full production style company doing the mass MFG units for Tige. Tige bought the licensing for all boats 17+ once he got the mandrel bent, thru hull design done and the polishing solid. The demand from Tige/other MFG made it impossible for him to continue doing it in house. The cool thing is the family that is doing the new production units lurks on here from time to time, maybe one of them will pop in. That unit can now be purchased for all recent years even prior to 17 or if you own a 16 and older you can purchase the older style.

I just installed FAE on my 2016 Z1 and fitment was perfect. I got quoted for the Tige' mandrel bent one and I just couldn't justify the $1500 they wanted to charge for it. Its underwater. They both function identically!
