New to forum and tige boats

Hi just like to say hello to everybody on this forum, great info
I went for a run in a 2015 rzr 20,first time in a wake boat,my previous boats have been all cross over boats,
Was very impressed with the tige and the wake it produced, but it seemed to porpous (spelling) at ski speeds,if we moved a person up the front it stopped, but still thinking it shouldn't do this,I tried putting the taps plate down to 2-3 but it woundnt stay in these positions,it just went back to 1,was wondering if this is common with the rzr20 and how can I fix it,iv brought the boat and love every thing about it exept this little negative,
Thanks in advanced for any info

Welcome aboard! My taps does not move from where I put it... but I guess that could be a feature on the newer boats to automatically drop to 1 above a certain speed? I do know that mine will porpoise at a higher taps setting, and lowering taps makes it go away, but that is on a bigger boat.

As I understand the taps system (never got out of the boat and looked at the taps plate position,) 1 is all the way down, and 8 is all the way retracted. As on every other boat I have ever been on putting tabs in the water will stop the boat from porpoising, soI would assume setting 1 will always be the best. With that said, if your setting is changing on you I would assume something is malfunctioning with your taps system.

While in this scenario I would assume it would be a warranty item, but if me I would try to diagnose myself so that the dealer can get it fixed quickly, as I assume every dealer is buried right now. Questions that would help diagnose in my mind are:
    1. Is the taps plate actually moving when you try to move it?
    2. Does the taps only change on its own above a certain speed? If so what speed?
    3. If it is moving, I would try to measure the angle at setting 1 and 8. On mine it can be calibrated by myself, so it could be a calibration thing.

Thanks for the reply Trevor,I haven't picked the boat up as yet so,I haven't had time to play around with it but I'm sure he said the taps on 8 is all the way down, and 1 is flat,I think it's just set up to go back to 1 at a certain speed,I get the boat monday, and will be working it out on the water all next week, and reading up on the owners manual to get a good idea what it should do,I was just abit concerned but it's only early days
Thanks again Trev appreciate the info

Taps at 8 is all the way up and at 1 is down. When skiing/cruising you want it around 1-2. It should not be moving, I’d check the fluid in the actuator, assuming in 15 it isn’t electric. I may be wrong but in your settings on the touch screen I think you can control the level of auto taps, which means how much it adjusts when getting up to speed.

Correct all the way around - Sounds like the auto taps function is engaged for sure...

Or you can just turn it off by pressing on the TAPS box at screen. If its highlightesd orange then Auto is on and it will do its own thing. If you want full control push the TAPS box on screen and it should turn grey and now TAPS will function with switch only.

              ill 5th or 6th it, 1 = down, 8 = up.

Outside of an actuator issue, you can add a spacer between the plate and actuator mount to drop the plate down in the water a shade more. A .25 to .5 is all thats typically needed.

I just received my 2018 RZR. I was aware of the porpoising(sp) issue from reading lots of reviews before buying. I have only had a chance to take a quick cruise in mine but I was very surprised at how much of a problem it is. I have read a little weight in the bow helps so I will try to fill the front ballast a bit and see if that helps.

What was your taps set at I have an R20 so same hull and all the porpoising is correct with adjusting taps keeping it 1-3 settings depending on chop.

Congratulations! I have a ‘14 RZR and love it. I have the porposing issue also above 4. With weight in the bow and calm water, I can run on 4. Never above that though. I was told that it’s the same system used on the bigger boats, it makes sense that a 20 footer can’t operate with as much taps as a longer boat.

image.jpgHi,just a quick update on our maiden voyage yesterday, the boat was awesom in all ereas except for the porpoising,it was really out of controll,it's really painfull, speeds over 30 mph and it starts,I need to fix this some how because we like to ski alot and barefoot, but I'm not holding my breath for footing
Hers a few photos of the plate, you guys have recommended spacers, but I was thinking of drilling a few holes abit higher on this steel plate to lower the trim tab down, any info will muchly appreciated

Be sure taps is between 1-3 at speeds above 25mph. That is the key. Try that before you go drilling holes or changing anything
                          Oh Yeah!
