    Fiberglass or Teak Swim Platform?

Hi. We are going to be picking up a new to us 2008 22ve with a Teak swim platform. We really like the look of the fiberglass option, but are wondering what the advantages of the teak vs fiberglass are? Also, if anyone has a fiberglass one for sale. Thanks in advance.

If you’re going to do a whole lot of surfing, the wooden platform is great because it’s easy to cut down. Restore it varnish it up and it’ll look awesome.

I prefer the fiberglass myself but they both have advantages and disadvantages. Dakota is right about the teak being easier to modify though. If you do mod and refinish it Starbright teak sealer is the sh$t. Don’t sand it to smooth with a very fine paper or it’ll be slick as snake sh$t when you’re done. (120 grit max) gotta leave some tack to it.
Somebody is selling a fiberglass platform in the accessories section. It’s off a 2011 rz4. Might be worth checking the dimensions.

I have a black one from my 2013 Z1. It's a long story, but I basically ended up with two. I'd be willing to part with it if we could come to a price. The only downside is I am in Canada, and I have no idea how to ship such a thing.

Sent you a pm. Any idea if it would fit a 2008 22ve?

I think it would fit so long as your brackets are in roughly the same location. You would still need to drill new holes to fasten (and fill in the old ones). Measure and let me know how far apart your brackets are. Here are some pics. The actual platform is not easily accessible right now.

Sorry cant measure at this time, the boat is in Calgary. Any chance any of the Tige gurus may know the 2008 22ve bracket measurements? I will be picking up later this month JohnnieMo. We will be travelling from Victoria Bc. So if it was to fit, depending on where you are located (noticed the ab plates in pic) maybe we could work something out.

The only other thing to consider with this is the back end of a ve is not as flat like the updated swim platform so you would have gaps at either end. I bought this platform last year to make a coffee table out of and did lay it on my current platform to see how it lined up. I can pull them both out and get some better measurements for you.

LOL! I live in Calgary. I think this is gonna work out

BCRider makes a good point about the shape of the transom. It could end up with some gaps on the ends.
