    Tow Vehicle

In the market for a new tow vehicle currently have an 07 Escalade ESV.
Does anybody have any experience with the Infiniti QX80 or the Armada and how well does it pull your boat? I have an RZ2 08.

    Thanks in advance.

My wife loves her armada. She’s had two of them now. An 04 and now a ‘12. It has plenty of power to tow an rz2. It is almost scary to try to stop our f24 which I think the gvw is around 6000 pounds. Our first armada had the air bags to level the ride which was nice. Our new does not. I wish it did. We are considering a bigger boat but the brakes are so bad we know we can’t tow with it unless we install a big brake kit.

Friends of ours had a new rental aramada when we were on vacation together and it wasn’t anything impressive. Not overly comfortable or luxurious. Personally I would take a look at the Tahoe or a Range Rover discovery.

Make sure the the hitch is rated properly. I believe the Amrada and the QX80 are rated for 8500lbs. I believe that is distributed weight and not load carrying weight. I think their load carrying weight is 5000lbs. Double check to be sure. See their web site. Your boat with trailer and fuel will be over 6000lbs. Then there is tower, speakers, gear, etc etc etc. which you need to add. Make sure you have the correct ball, and hitch with the proper weight rating. Also make sure your trailer tires are correct and your trailer rating is correct.

Not sure about the new body style armada, but the older style is far better than a Tahoe. I’m a huge Chevy fan and want to love the Tahoe, but I just can’t get past how “big” it is and yet there is no room in it. Sure it may have a better nav screen and stuff, but I’d rather not have kids kick my seat back. They won’t in the armada.

My Sequoia is a damn good truck. How do they stack up?

Interior space is unreal. Second row room galore.

We have a 2015 QX80 and when we tow our RZ4 you definitely know its back there. Power wise it tows great, but I believe with the shorter wheelbase you feel a lot of the sway from the boat and trailer. This could also be that its close to the max tow weight of the QX80. I know the RZ4 is bigger so I don't know if the RZ2 being a little smaller will make a difference. Since we tow almost 50 miles each way to the lake we usually take our 3/4 ton truck which seems to have a much better ride.

I have a 2017 Armada and my wife has 2017 QX80. Have also had Escalade, avalanche, sequoia, Titan, and Tundra. The longer wheelbase on the trucks is nice for towing. I will say the tow mode on the qx80/armada really sucks and hardly does anything. I usually find myself shifting manually if there are even slight hills. My sequoia had a great tow mode that dramatically moved the shift points. If they would update the sequoia interior I would switch back in a heartbeat. Those Toyotas are so overbuilt and you can tell when you drive it.

I don't look at family haulers or pricing much, but from what your asking it sounds like third row is a must ya?? If so why not the Yukon Denali?? I'm guessing Armada is substantially cheaper, but like I said I'm not into SUV's.

I have always thought a 2015+ Expedition with Ecoboost probably tows great. The new Expedition for 2018 looks great if you ask me!

Range Rover discovery. 8200lbs towing. Starting at 52000usd... If I was in the market for full size I’d be sold on this one.

If they weren't so hard to find and if people didn't want top dollar for them Id be all about a 7.3 powerstroke in the Excursion. Even for hauling my 3 dogs and a boat or camper.
My campers keep getting bigger so I'm past looking at anything smaller than 3/4 tons..
