Hi all, first session of the season this past weekend and first time behind new R23. Was awesome getting back in the water after winter break. I had a really hard time getting a wave with good push, and I tried a lot variances with settings with bow ballast, taps, and speed. I am running stock wave, but I am going to be adding steel shot ballast bags (500#/side) and run the exact settings that Elevated (thanks) has shared on the '17 Z3, so i suspect this hopefully is a temporary issue until we get the lead.
Anyways, the best wave I was able to get running stock wave (though still not awesome had to work way too hard to stay in the pocket, lacked push further back on the wave) , was running rears 100%, front about 20/25% with more on surf side (goofy), taps 3 at 4-5, taps 2 at 6. I prefer a steeper wave, but also with enough length and push to launch airs and recover from my amateur 3s. I'm 5'8", 160, riding a soulcraft hc pro 4'6".
Any thoughts to dialing the R23/Z3 wave with stock ballast on this hull? Next time I am thinking of doing what we did with prior boat (08 Z1) which I feel for push and height was dialed, and that's leave bow empty and just go all rear.
Thanks in advance for feedback!
