    05 24v or 10 23 lsv

    Ok guys, first post.
Been looking at boats and have narrowed it to two.
    First boat
    2005 tige 24v listed 33000
    380 ish hours
    6.0 vortec
    no current ballast
i have haggled price and for basically 36k i would get
    tower speakers and amp added
1000 lb sacs in each rear corner
    500 up front
    300 center

    second boat
    2010 Malibu LSV 23
    LS3 motor,
    5000 dollar stereo set up
    500ish hours
    price 45k

I want a good wakeboard boat and want to surf as well.
I dont necessarily care for the extra flashiness of the malibu I would prefer the cost saving
is this enough ballast? will i be disappointed in the 24v or is the lsv just a better boat and worth the extra coin
I have read a few issues on the 6.0, mainly vapor lock, any real concerns here?

    Any help is greatly appreciated
Already went through being told about the wood stringers which i am sure most of you now were gone in 2004
Looking to buy very soon but dont know anyone with tige experience so I came here
I have seen the duffy write up and that is a ton of ballast, do i really need that much?

The extra coin is because its 5 years newer, not because its a better boat per say. At first glance, id take a 5 year newer 23 LSV over 24V, especially if it had the wake hull and I was a boarder. Diamond hull might change that. Mainly surfing, 24V over a non-gated, non-PW2 LSV.

The LSV will need additional ballast over the MLS, for surfing. No surf-gate on a 2010, right? Power wedge, but not PW-2 or whatever they called it.

Just note that on a Tige, "center" ballast means laying in the walkway. Are the other 3 sacs plumbed in for that price? Are you going to be listing the boat for surfing or running a surf apparatus?

What tower speakers and amp are you getting in that deal as well?

Listed or surf apparatus, both these boats are going to be weighted with about the same amount to reach their potential. You do not need "duffy-weight" to get a great surf wave from a 24V. Its actually a pretty easy boat to setup.

I am unaware of anywhere to put center ballast in a 24V, at least not without it laying in the walkway.

The malibu will be 5 years newer, stronger motor, power wedge, and if the extra 9K is not putting you in financial jeopardy, I would do the LSV without question. Without knowing details, I have seen some '$5000 stereo' jobs that were pure crap. Even with stock stereo, that is a pretty solid deal.

And I would be interested to know what tower speakers would be added to the Tige, and is that ballast system fully automated?
      Be excellent to one another.

If surfing was your number 1 then 24v if wakeboarding is your 1 then LSV.

May I ask why you are comparing these 2? There are plenty of 2008-2010 Tige out there. You could get a RZ4 for about the price as the Malibu.

In those 2 options a 5 year new LSV wins hands down if the money doesn't matter.

But like above, why are you comparing those 2?

This just proves how great this forum is, very rarely do you see people saying another brand is better anywhere else.

I will agree, the Malibu would be much better, with more options, GSA or a suc gate and you’ll be good to go.

Between the 2 you listed I’d have to say the newer Malibu but If you’re saying your budget is $45k I’d keep looking. There are a lot of nice used boats out there.
I’ve never been that big a fan of Malibu. I think they’re over priced for what you get.
