    Finally done! (for now)

Thought you guys might like to see the finished product finally. After 20 hours of buffing and polishing (in & out), a little interior work and a new circ pump, impeller and carb rebuild she's back on the water.

I'm into her about $8K total now and I'm really happy with the way it came out. Runs excellent and is a blast to drive. I know she's not a RZ2 (darn!) and kinda old school but i like her.

BTW, check out my "hull leaks" post in technical if anybody can help, thanks.

Awesome looking boat. Totally oldschool. Definatly an eye cather. I know you did all the exterior buffing yourself. Did you get any quotes from outside sources for that. Just curios cause I am having my boat completely redone this Dec. Anyways sweeeeet boat.

Looks great. I just finished polishing mine, the new vinyl, and sanding and redoing the teak. Mine is looking awesome too. I am not showing pics until I get my phat budde and all my new gauges in though, so it might be in the spring. I have some before pics already.

What did you use to compound out the gel. I went with some 3M heavy compound, then finished with a light, then to a polish. My gel was in BAD shape. You could feel the difference on the waterline under your fingernail. Slick as owl poop now. I still need to hit a few more places on the topside, then I am done.

looks really nice Razz! I have a 95 2002 fslm comp ( same basic boat) that i picked up for a song and have done the same things to. Now im compounding it with the 3M marine stuff. Its really slow going but worth it. These are indeed old school ski boats but due to the unique hull design they really ride well in the chop of large rivers and put out a great slalom wake on the glass lakes. Does yours have the hydraulic TAPs or the fixed plate with turnbuckle adjusters. Mine has the latter and " TigeMD" gave me the skinny on adjusting it which i'd be happy to pass along. Tige2002

I used Meguiars Diamond Cut 2.0, you have to use it with caution though. Use a rotary buffer in a random pattern with light pressure. Definately don't dawdle to long in one spot! Then I hit it with Meguiars Swirl Remover and finally Meguiars Flagship polish. The red stripes were pink when i got it the oxidation was so bad! Now i have to find some graphics for it and it's done until next year except for some trailer work. New stereo next spring as well.

Thanks! Your right about the hull design, really slices through the wakes real nice! I have the fixed plate without turnbuckles, no adjustment at all!

                Is it closed bow?

Hard to tell...looks closed, but then again it looks like a pass-through windshield. Hmmm...awesome looking boat tho...
