I would switch dealers. On our company trucks, when we take them in for service to the Ford dealership they use Motorcraft filters & oil.

It’s interesting to see in the last few years how more and more manufacturers, that didn’t sell direct, are selling direct to end users, via an ecommerce site direct or using Amazon, at almost the same prices offered to distributors or with a marginal increase.

Many manufacturers wouldn’t be where they are today without their distribution network, but with the net and then Amazon pounding on all markets it’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few years for distributors/resellers.

Great point. We all know the more hands it passes thru the more it's going to get marked up. Again, my point is to get closer to the origin and pass on the savings, and not have 100% markups or as in my first post 800% markup over retail price at the parts house.

Essentially all ford dealers use motorcraft stuff.... its the cheaper of some of the products especially when comparing against its better performing Synthetic counterparts, it just also happens to be made by ford.

Go to any other dealer that isnt ford and they are mostly using Rotella/Chevron/Mobil Oils as well as the majo brand reputable filters. Motocraft Oil while a ford product is made by Conoco. While its a damn fine product it wont be going in anything I own including my new superduty but thats for another topic....

Av8tor is spot on. These days everything is a Google search away. I would bet that within a half hour of real digging I can find the company, and probably even the factory that blended Ford's Motorcraft oil. I bet you the same factory is formulating the exact same oil and putting it Valvoline bottles or other high quality oil.
I'm sure if you asked the man Larry E over at Indmar he'd tell that if you are using a quality SN rated oil that is synth blend you are fine. We choose to service with full synth.

Right.... Ive gotten wideband 02 in Motorcraft packaging from Indmar with part number right on it. Still upstairs in my inventory. So why would I pay their markup and shipping from Tennesee to Idaho when I can make a call down the street and a runner brings it to my toolbox with a receipt the same day??

Of course they do... except they dont make their own oil. Its another revenue generator. Wouldn't you rather use Motorcraft given thats what FORD recommends and labels as their own and says is superior to ALL OTHERS (Conoco)? Im trying to follow the logic you are throwing down big guy. Who is right in this situation... FORD or Indmar?

Why should a boat owner take his boat to a dealership for service instead of a independent shop? They should be cheaper also. Last year we had a problem with an engine, Indmar said to send it back for an oil analysis and we did. They fixed the issue and sent the engine back.

We have never had an Engine not warranty out based on OIL. NEVER.
