    2005 22v for surfing

I have an 05 22v we dont surf much but have started messing around with it. It doesnt have ballast built in, but what I do have is an 1100 lbs fly high sac to fit either rear locker, and I have 2 450lb fat sacs to move around as I need. What would the best configuration be for these. do I need to use them all and if so are they all filled full?

I’d go buy another 1100 and run with a suc gate. A friends 22ve puts out an awesome wave with 1100s rear and 400ish bow.

But to use what you’ve got. I’d start with the 1100 in the back of course, one 450 in the bow and go 10.6-11.2mph taps at like 2 or 3 and you should have a decent wave. If you want a little more height slow down and or put that extra bag in the rear. Taps any higher than 4 and things start to wash out.

I get the best wave on my boat with taps around 4-5 depending whether I’m surfing port or starboard. Less than that and the height really suffers.
My boat is pretty similarly weighted to bsreid suggestions except I only fill the non surf side rear bag to about 75%.
More bow weight, more speed, less taps all lengthen the wave. More rear weight, slower speed, and higher taps increase the wave height. I pull around 11.2-11.8 weight and side being ridden dependent.
Gotta find a good mix to get a wave you’ll really like. Your boat is certainly capable of a good one!

suck gate is a must! But you'll need 2 rear bags. Fill up both rears (or as other says 75% on the non surf side, 100% on surf side) and enjoy the best wave on the lake.

For a listed wave with what you have, 1100 in rear surf side locker filled, 450 along surf side seat, 2nd 450 in walkway. Speed will depend on your skill level, At least 10.5. TAPS will very as speed changes, so use it to clean up adjust the wave.

Thanks guys all I have ever tried is just fill the 1100lbs one up and it's worked ok, but for me to surf I have to be about 3 feet from the boat I'm a bigger guy about 270lbs. I'll try doing it as suggested with the others placed in the proper spots and hopefully that will be better. If it is i may have to look at plumbing it all in.....next year though, I have to get the stereo done first!!!!

board and technique will impact staying in the pocket and how far back you can go.

Sounds about right, you’ll last about a year before you get sick of throwing pumps over the side of the boat! Automated ballast is the bomb! Lots of write ups and how tos in the ballast section of the forum. Luckily for me my stereo was pretty decent before I did my ballast install so I did that first. I re did most of my stereo last summer. I just got finished building a new ported sub enclosure for a 12.
                Best of luck!

I have the same boat as you. I run a pair of 1100’s in the rear and a 600 lb u-shaped bag under the front seats. I run a diy suck gate too. We mostly surf goofy. The other posts have it about right. Full bow and surf side sack. Non -surfside about 75%. We run around 11.5 with taps about 3.5.
I plumbed in my ballast last spring. You can find my “how-to” post when you get ready to do the same...and you will as it’s a huge PIA otherwise.

That seems like SO much weight!!!!!!! I have always been a little hesitant filling the sacs as I am not sure if its too much weight. But it sounds like guys are putting a hell of a lot more in thier boats than I do!!!. What is suck gate? I am going to check out your DIY post to get an idea of what to expect.

You can get a nearly identical wave with your 22v - cut your swim deck down and it will be even cleaner. Your setup will be slightly different as Jetdriver has a 22ve. We listed our 22v, so I have no comment on the suck gate. I can tell you though, the 22v makes an awesome wave!

Yep. You can ignore that Coast Guard sticker....

The diy gate is a wake enhancing device that attaches to the hull with very strong suction cups. You can make one for about $40 or you can buy one for about $200 and up. Check out the nauticurl website for an idea on how they work and what they look like.

I modeled my suck gate off of the mission surf device.
