Agreed to buy this boat 2000SLM Comp 95 or 96?

Just joined and have been reviewing posts but now I'm confused as the owner is calling it a 96 but from the research on this site it sounds as if 96 was the first year of the pre series. Can you tell me if this is a 95 or 96 from the paint scheme?
    Details:
    - 300hrs
    - No issues according to the owner
    - Agreed to buy for $4,500

    thoughts?

What does the title and registration say? Whats the HIN. It has the model year in it.

I should have been more specific. the boat is a 5hrs away from me so I've agreed to buy if it's as described when I arrive so I have not seen the title or the HIN. I also can only find paint similar to this boat but not the same in my searches.

thank you in advance for your help...

Looks like a sweet boat for 4,500! Hopefully it runs as good as it looks.

If you like the boat does it matter the year? When a boat is 22 or 23 years old price does not change much.

Plus they are both going to be built the exact same for the most part. 96 would have had taps as an option and that would have been the only big change.
That boat does not have taps.
              Oh Yeah!

All fair comments. Just trying to educate myself as much as possible about these boats as there appears to be very little data on these years. Narrowing to a specific year I thought would be helpful. Doesn't sound as if that's the case. I also find it interesting I can't find a single picture of the same paint scheme on Google.

Ask the seller for the Hull number and the last two digits are the year.

It was special ordered with that paint scheme. If you can get me the hull ID number I could possibly tell you more about it.

Is that one of the Fineline boats? Before Tige had its own manufacturing plant, Fineline was building the boats. Not sure what year they switched over but that might explain the “odd for a Tige” gel coat sceme.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

94 would have been the last year of Fineline. Basically what they did was no 2" stripe, no accent stripe and made that entire lower section that would have been the stripe be the hull color. The deck/dash colored was an option at that time. Typically they were black.
