    Ceramic coating

Hey everyone, came across this over the weekend and thought I would share. Saw an add for hydrosilex, and read some reviews and it looks promising, and really easy I saw on one of the sites to search for a free sample, and was able to get for the cost of shipping. I am not involved with this in any way, just thought it looked like a great option if it works, much cheaper and easier than other options so I was going to try after polishing.

Here is the link to the free sample if interested.

Wonder how much 16 ounces will cover? Might have to get 5 other buddies to get one for me too

Says 2 oz will coat a car. Should do the boat twice at least.

I feel like it’s more of a light coating compared to a true 9H hardness like other brands.

I am making the same assumption, but I am not yet ready to drop 2400 on a ceramic coating, and i am hoping this will work over my buff magic to help keep a little cleaner and free of water spots for less than 20 per application.

There’s some 9H stuff on amazon for pretty cheap, the installation just seems a little more technical. So if this stuff is in between wax and a good ceramic coating I’d be happy.

Any kind of coating with hardness will mar. Either you go full tilt with something that has enough hardness to it that it can battle some of the light abrasions or you go wax is my .02. Anything of the softer nature will be too susceptible I would think which means you rub it and you will have to cut it, re polish and re apply a section for it to look decent. Just my .02

Its either hard and hopefully hard enough or it isnt. Given the ceramics (Ceramic Pro/C-quarts etc) have all been too soft for my liking its tough to imagine a softer compound being successful. Totally a hunch though.

I will certainly let everyone know my thoughts. Unfortunately I am in upstate NY, so will probably be one of the last to report. It shipped about an hour and 20 minutes after i ordered it so i can't complain about that.

So I emailed the company asking a few questions on how it compares to a true 9H hardness coating. What I kinda got out of it was it would be good as a base on a vehicle for just overall protection but for use in marine environments it would be better used on top of a true 9H coating to “fill it in” over time.

I might try it on a vehicle but I’ll stick menzerna sealant on the boat.

What about the cheaper 9H hardness products on Amazon? a kit can be had for not much over $50. Wondering if they're any good.
