As the season nears just curious what and how my fellow Tige' owners ride ? Do you skim at 10.8 trying to throw tricks? Maybe surf 11.3 and carve aggressively. What are you jammin to ? Hip-hop/ rap/rock/reggae? Do you surf to progress or for fun?

Also, coming from an '08 z1 haven't yet surfed my new R23 (come on...come on), so final setup there tbd - definitely going to be taking tips from the huge depth of knowledge on this forum! Usually on the Z1 I would surf anywhere from 10.6-11.4, taps 2 pretty much all the way up (7-8) with all the ballast (~1200#) in the a$$ end, and suck gate.
Trick bag is growing (airs, 360s, slashes for throwing buckets), and progression is always on my mind, but if I'm on the water I'm enjoying life.
Love to jam to surf rap/rock/reggae (think dirty heads), but hip hop, country (Texas, not Nashville), and metal & rage rock also make it on the playlist. Stoked to finally have a ride with tower speakers!

I ride right around 11.0 to 11.2 in my Z1. Although I have an assortment of surf style boards (Soulcraft, Ronix Koal, and my own homemade Woody) I find that my Phase 5 Trident is the favourite. It's great for big guys as you get a lot of speed, but it also can spin or jump. I think at my intermediate skill level, it's about the right board for me. I'm surprised, but I think skim is my favourite right now. As for tunes, almost always country! If things are getting serious perhaps some classic rock like AC/DC
I'm almost at the point of landing my first 360. I got the spinning part figured, but it's just the staying with the boat part that I have to figure out.

I’ve been a skim rider for the last couple years, just started competing last summer. Noticed my riding style started liking the surf style more and more for airs and what not, so bought a Conner burns pro model from kanuck boardco and can’t wait to try it out.
I don’t know if it’s jist me but typically skim riders will speed up and surf style will slow down to get a nice lip on the wave. On our old R20 I would ride between 10.8-11 depending on conditions but on a friends slammed Z3 I’d jump up to 12 and be in heaven. Can’t wait for this summer for the rzx, counting down the days and looking at the long term forecast in hope of something warm.

Currently all surf style. I'd like to get a skim but the cost of these damn boards nowadays is just a pain. Don't really want to drop over a $1000 on a board and decide I already like the surf one I got....being a 4'10" Soulcraft Blunt Nose Honu. Interested in the skim style to play around and see how much I like it.
Current bag of tricks pretty much the same cnote. I do surf with the goal of getting better but it's ultimately just to be out there and enjoy being on the water.
cnote: If you like dirty heads check out Stick Figure and SOJA. You probably do know of them if you like that genre....and if not, well I just told you your two new favorite bands.lol.

That's an awesome looking board. I like the width. As an 'ample' gentleman, I like the extra buoyancy.
I did speak to one of the owners at the boat show. He was fantastic. He was directing my towards the Darkstar or the Mayhem. However for pricing, I didn't find them to be much better. I spent about $1000 on a Soulcraft blunt nose Honu 18 monthss ago. They are right in that ballpark. Maybe the SC has gone up a bunch since??
Either way, I want to demo before I buy. So I'll have to either try yours, or go to a demo event :P

Come to cultas for the BC battle of the Wake it’s their local surf comp. the pro riders are all great people and I’m sure you could try a board or to. They also do a bunch of stuff on Chestermere which is Calgary area. Soul craft is 1100 Canadian I got mine for a winter sale down to 9 something with tax... Not sure if the Calgary seca has them but the Kelowna one is a dealer that stocks their boards.
