2016 Z3 or 2014 ASR?

Hello,
I'm looking at these two boats and wondering which one to buy. I will be using the boat primarily for surfing but may throw in a wakeboard session here and there. The boats are virtually identical in options and price. Thanks for any thoughts or advice.

Prepare to get a bunch of different opinions on this. I'll throw my .02 cents in. You really can't go wrong either way as both boats are fantastic. I would personally go with the Z3. It's 2 years newer and more desirable hull which should lead to better resale. The ASR was only in production for 2 years I believe before they redesigned it and created the RZX line. You say you are primarily using it for surfing, the Z3 will have TAPS3 which is the best surf system on the market. The ASR is obviously a much bigger boat and the subfloor ballast is super nice for storage.

Ultimately, the decision is yours. Weigh out pros and cons to each and go for it. Hopefully this helps a bit.

I would only consider the asr if it’s a 2015 with the hull moded to be like an rzx and taps 3 added. Go check out the blue one that Germaine has, great price and all the goodies I said before. The bigger boat will naturally perform as a bigger newer rzx.

If you want any form of resale the Z3 is definitely the way you want to go.

If the ASR is modded as BSREID stated. It’s basically an RZX at that point. Depends on the price point if that’s the case. If it’s not modded Z3 all day.

ASR if your dealer can do the bottom tweak on it. You will have an Rzx for ASr money. No comparison. Add taps 3 or GSA and you have a monster on your hands.

You looking at the ASR at WWS in Denver? That's a sweet ride and has the 575.

ASR is bigger than Z3. Also provide a nice wakeboard wave and a massive wakesurf wave even with the 2014 hull. Most of people never tried it and/or never made the good ballast setup to pull a nice wave.
