    Winter work on boat

Finally got first hinge mounted for GSA surf tab. Had to make shim for the hinge to fit flat and making one for the upper actuator mount. Tab is located 5 inches from side of boat which allows upper actuator to fit in next to swim platform mounts and keeps the tab tucked under the platform when stowed.

I've also got the wiring ran through tower for the speaker ring LEDs.

Nice, what boat is this going on?
My buddy has GSA on his 2007 Malibu 247 and with the heavy weight he runs, its great! I also run a lot of weight and been thinking of adding it to my 2014 so I can stop using a Nauticurl suck gate tho my wave with the suckgate is very big and clean...just be nice to have push button system so I can practice switching sides more often and riding heel side. Love to hear your review once you try it, I plan to keep my boat another year or 2 before upgrading to new boat and trying to decide if spending the money on GSA will be worth it to me, I imagine it will help sell boat when the time comes to have automated surf system, I know the GSA tabs are designed well and make a great wave if you run enough ballast. Only bad reviews I have seen are from people that think they don't have to run much ballast, or have a hull not designed specific to wake surfing and think it will still work awesome and then it doesn't work like they think it would.

Its going on a 2011 Tige RZ2. The suck gate I used last year(can't remember name) worked great when it worked but had trouble with suction cups holding. So I'm trying this, hope I get it dialed in.

Also one of my custom taps plates would be awesome in addition to your gsa plates for surfing.

How much weight are you running in your RZ2?

stock tanks under floor. then have i think about 1100 lb bags in back lockers. 400lbs under bow seats. I carry extra bags if I need more up front or in center.

Having done GSA on a few boats my only advice would be to make sure you get enough stowed angle. 25-30 degrees. Good luck!

2011 rz2 has stock under floor ballast? I thought it was just the bags in the lockers and the bow bags. We’re there several ballast options offered on that boat? I have a friend with a 2012 and another with a 2015, both of there’s are the same. Two separate sacks in the bow and two in the rear lockers that have that fabric piece that snaps them to the side to dry the flooring. I’m wondering if theirs were base models or something.

                    2010-2015 had 4 options.

                    No ballast
base = 900 which was a 400 bow sac and two sub-floor 250 tanks in rear lockers
Surf = base 900 + a 350 soft sac in each rear locker for 1600 total
Pro = base + swapping the 400 bow for two (2) 400 in bow for a 2000 total.

Very interested in how the gsa turns out. Keep posting picks! Debating about taking off my vx for a gsa. My boat is surfing well and am not convinced yet it is worth it.

But Sorry for the thread hijack....
I have a modified 2012 rz2 and have no idea what ballast setup I have.

I believe I started with PRO setup.

                      1. I have a right and left pump to the bow so I assume I have 2 bags in the bow.

                      2. A convex vx was added to the boat.

                      3. I am told the locker bags originally with the PRO were swapped up to a larger bag due to the add of the convex. More weight was needed.

What size would this locker bag be? When filled it takes up the entire locker and goes on the floor beyond the cup holders and under the seats.

All in all my boat surfs well, but surfs best when I have some fat friends stategically placed. [emoji106] Takes forever if I ever want to flip the boat surf side thought. So I never do - I make the goofies go backwards.

Call Tige with your HIN and they can tell you what the boat shipped out with, if you do not have the original build sheet in your owners packet.

Either way, Tige plumbed two fill and two drain pumps for the bow sac, whether it was the 400# single U shaped Surf or the twin 400# hockey stick pro sacs.

                        3. I am told the locker bags originally with the PRO were swapped up to a larger bag due to the add of the convex. More weight was needed.

The rear locker soft sacs were the same for both pro and surf and MANY got swapped out. Good chance they are my custom Tige surf sacs. if so, they hold about 1200#, so a 850# net gain. They could also be the Fly High Tige surf sac, which holds about 900#.

If you want to speed up the side switching, let me know, we can help with that.

GSA tabs almost in. Starting to look at where to mount the Transom lights. I have 2 SeaBlaze lights. I'm not sure best location. Looks kind of limited on where I can put them. I think best 2 spots are right next to exhaust or just above the FAE. The location otbd I think will get blocked by GSA tab when stowed. Second light on Right side would be mounted opposite. Any ideas?IMG_20180303_092728.jpgIMG_20180303_092741.jpgIMG_20180303_092808.jpg

You’re in a bit of a pickle with the lights! You’re right the tabs are gonna block a bunch of light(unless they’re deployed of course) but the FAE is also gonna block a lot as well. Of the three spots you held them in I’d say the side of the FAE would be best. Have you thought about using a mounting bracket and putting them on the FAE support bar or maybe under the swim deck on L brackets? A couple guys that have VX plates have mounted lights with brackets they fabricated. Just a thought but in my opinion will give you the best light spread considering your situation.
