Lake Powell fines for drilling and pin anchoring houseboats.

I just heard about this and thought I would spread the word. It looks like there is a $280 fine for each anchor pin drilled in the sandstone.
This article was posted 9/5/17. I heard they were citing and fining at the end of last year.

    Thanks for the head's up!

I have drilled the last couple of years and it has opened up so many new areas. Frankly, the lake is way too crowded if nobody pin anchors anymore, there just are not enough sandy areas. It was discouraging that any rock hugger can wander around the lake texting the locations of every houseboat that is anchored inappropriately. Previous holes are actually kind of hard to find most of the time, since they fill up with sand that matches the surrounding rockscape, but I use them when possible. Is there any actual evidence of rocks crumbling because of this? I don't think so.
    Be excellent to one another.

"Rock huggers" Good one. You're welcome for the heads up. We have been drilling for years. It has helped tremendously. You can sleep at night during a powerful storm when you're pinned in the rock. You're right. there are not enough sandy beaches to go around. I imagine there will be more damaged property claims in the next large storm or micro burst.
