I bought a 16 rz2... drove a r20 and a z3 and ended up with the rz2. Thought this would be a boat for years. Fast forward to 2018 rzx2 has arrived. It didn’t hurt that much. Cost me 8500 of depreciation for 94 hours of use over a summer and a half. I’m in Canada so considering exchange rates I’d be happy to lose 5k a year for a summers worth of fun. I’m sure my dealer made me feel better by using some of the new boat sale price to prop up my depreciation but that’s how it works. Get what you want, life is short, find a dealer you can work with and pull the trigger.

One thing is for sure, the battery bank requirements will take care of a lot of ballast if they figure it out

The one I'm interested to see is where Indmar goes next. Wouldn't be surprised to see a 3.5L ecoboost in the future.
After I said what I said Nautique in Europe is actually making an all electric gs20. Bad part is you only get 3 hours and it makes pavatti look cheap. http://www.boats.com/reviews/super-a.../#.WmAXGit6qEc

To all you people going to boat shows, don’t forget to take some pictures! I wish I wasn’t stuck on this island

That's cool. Hadn't seen that. I've seen the Nautique all electric ski boat. I think it came out in 2011.
Will post some pics of our little show for ya

Hmmm. Let's float a 78 kWh battery on highly conductive water with no way to ground it except by more water around you...And should this catch on fire all bets are off.

Disclaimer: I've been a Tesla owner since 2014. Electric vehicles are fantastic, but when someone quotes any drive time with EVs they are always referring to best case scenario. Assuming you have a house on a lake with your own doc and can start wakesurfing within minutes of launch then this is great. I doubt lake marinas will be rushing to add super chargers in lots of convenient locations around lakes. This sounds like a great attempt to ride the EV Wave (pun intended), but being a long time pure EV driver who still suffers the occasional range anxiety with my Tesla, even I am skeptical of the practicality of EV boats. 10 years from now, perhaps. Maybe when Tesla is done with their Model 3, roadster, Semi, and pick up, they'll work on a boat and place superchargers at every lake.

But boy, EV boats would have awesome rip your arms out of their sockets torque with plenty of weight for ballast.

Agreed^^ getting a charge may not be too easy.

I could see a slalom skier liking electric but not surfing. Say if you lived on the lake, charged it at the dock and just went out for a quick slalom set every day.

That was Nautiques pitch on the all electric ski boat in their promo video. Go out for a quick set in the AM on your private ski lake then put it on the lift and go to work.

                    The .1% life!

Assuming said .1%'r EV Slalom were able to install a 50Amp charge service at his private doc without freaking out the local building inspector, it would take about 8 hours on average to fully recharge. So quick set in the AM and again in the Eve is all you get. That's Baller living if you can afford it.
