    For the Powerstroke guys

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...es-were-rigged

Ought to be interesting on how it plays out. If it goes down like Audi/VW there are a lot of guys getting out from underwater Platinum/king ranch trucks

The first thing that comes to my mind are all of the emissions delete / aftermarket tuner companies and the customers lining up for to do business with them. I hear more from people looking to get rid of the emissions in hope to achieve better performance and mileage that ever brag about how little emissions there modern diesel pickups put out.

^ I think if you really cared about emissions and the environment you wouldn't really be looking at a F350 to begin with.lol. They're bought to haul and once you do an EGR delete among a few other things they really wake up and your mileage damn near doubles.

It's actually illegal to do the EGR deletes, or any modifications to the emissions for that matter, but the manufactures sell millions in aftermarket parts. Makes emission testing pointless.

A toasted head gasket/something going boom inside at 67K with merely an emissions delete via efi live with nothing changed power wise left me with a bogus denial warranty wise. It was a painful experience. I got out of it ok but man, I dont think I would ever fool around with it during the warranty period again.

Completely unrelated to us merely shutting down the emissions equipment but boy did GM dig in. It was horrid.

I was painfully worried about that with mine as well - I ended up waiting until about 75K until I deleted mine. Everything good now and way out of warranty but I had heard a couple horror stories like that. Not cool when you spend that kind of money...

I have a 15 f350 platinum and have debated on doing the delete as well as some suspension upgrades. I just can’t bring myself to do it while it’s still in the warranty period.

We’ve got a snapon truck in the family business and it’s been in the shop many times for problems regarding the emission system on its Cummins and literally every mechanic says deleting it and running it that way. But until the warranty is up no way.

Yours is a different engine than mine (09), but I'm glad I did mine...

Yeah, after all the research I feel the same way. After I pulled off the EGR intake and saw what was inside, I was shocked. Wish I would have done it sooner, but the warranty thing still would be scary.

                    Hi Guys,

I have a thought and a question on this.

I have a 2011 Chev 2500 DMax. This was the first year of DEF and a lot of the emission things. I was really disappointed in the mileage that I am getting compared to guys I know with earlier DMax rigs.

Question: What exactly is the "delete"? How hard is this to perform? We only have 60K on our truck, but due to age the warranty is off. I found this out the hard way, the turbo went out at 57K, 3 months past the time warranty and GM socked us the $4K for the repair. The dealer tried to go to bat for us and get it covered or partially compensated under "good will"...no go. So with the warranty clearly off, I figured that we can now do some things to improve the mileage, but don't want it full on "blowing smoke"

Thought: I have wondered for quite some time, what is tougher on our environment. Everyone is worried about what comes out of the exhaust pipe, but if we are using more fuel to accomplish the same task, isn't that bad for the environment as well? On one hand we are told to use less fuel, buy electric or cars that get better mileage. On the other, we are putting all this emission crap on but increasing the amount of fuel used. In some ways, I feel that we may actually be doing more harm than good. What do you guys think.

                      Dandy,

I think the biggest thing would be that the higher ups are fine with you spending money on more fuel because that intern makes them profit and they don't necessarily care what your mileage is....they'll just fake it.lol....to soon? We all like to pretend to care about the environment but running businesses and making money still out weigh trying to save the earth in the long run. Corporations that essentially own the government won't allow the changes. Why are European cars that much more efficient than North American? How come they offer some models in Europe with diesels but not here in NA? To me it's all greed from the big boys.

What is an EGR Delete Kit?
Many diesel truck owners want to improve engine longevity, and overall performance. There are several aftermarket parts that can assist with these goals but few are as efficient or beneficial as an EGR delete kit.

So what is an EGR delete kit? An EGR delete kit is an aftermarket part assembly that removes a vehicle’s EGR system. EGR stands for exhaust gas recirculation and this refers to a mandatory component that is found in most vehicles. An EGR system reduces a vehicle’s exhaust emissions.

EGR systems have been known to cause serious issues in an engine, including stuck valves, coolant problems, and leaky cylinders. An EGR delete kit removes the EGR system and allows a vehicle’s engine to run at cooler temperatures. This improves performance, makes an engine run cleaner, and last that much longer.

So what is an EGR delete kit? In short, it is an aftermarket assembly that is guaranteed to improve your truck’s diesel engine performance. Installing an EGR delete kit will improve the motor’s lifespan, and will eliminate the risk of any EGR system engine damages.

I'm all about modifying cars for whatever the reason and glad the aftermarket exists but whatever you do don't be that a$$hat that sits in front of you with the diesel truck, light turns green and out comes a big black belch of black smoke leaving you in it due to removing parts/modifying the engine. for the added torque that is maybe needed for 100 miles a year of the 10k it sees.

just as annoying as the kid that puts the fartcan on his $2k civic to bump the hp from 137 to 138.3 and lets you know about it at 2:30am in your neighborhood.

I honestly don’t give two shits about improving the hp/tq. The 6.7 is already a monster. I am a huge car guy. But I just don’t understand these guys trying to bump the hp/tq on these diesel trucks. Now responsiveness, mpg, longevity are another story. But not at the expense of blowing smoke.

Good to another Snappy in here. The only problems I've had with my '15 MT55 Cummins is the damn DEF.
