Yeah, I personally think all this "emissions crap" is just a bunch of propaganda. I have read that it takes a gallon of diesel to make a gallon ethanol - how does that make since...

@Dandy -Duramax?? (Just kidding). I'm with Blackout. These newer diesels are monsters - I didn't delete mine for horse power either, I did it for the longevity and mpg of the engine. I wanted it to have the same resilience that my '97 did...

I talked to a lot of diesel guys - everyone of them said "Get that crap out of there..."

By the way - the "blowing smoke" is a setting. You can tune it blow smoke or not.... So, yes - its an a$$hat thing.

Blowing smoke is purposefully running super rich. It’s a peculiarly odd thing to choose but some ‘necks dig it.

I am new powerstroke guy, bought an old 2004 excursion with the 6.0. It had been studded but no egr delete so that’s next on my list. I needed the room for kids (4) and our oversized lab and just wanted to get away from the typical suburban, had one meh it was kinda boring. Great to see a little stoke on here!

I wanted one too! I have a Sequoia but momma says she would prefer no diesel. Party pooper!

What momma says goes....but... I have a father in law that doesn't like diesel either - I keep telling him he doesn't know what he's missing. I swear man, once you go diesel you will never go back. More power than you know what to do with, better MPG (most of the time), engine last forever (if you treat it right) - I could go on but seriously, you should get one...

Oh I know. And I still could against her silly wishes. Truth be told my 2008 Sequoia is a loyal trooper too. There are pluses to both.

She could not wrap her head around selling my old truck to get an older one LOL

Let’s just say I am keeping my eyes peeled on semi-local 2005 Excursions with less than 150k miles [emoji6]

Although, the V10 actually doesn’t get that much worse mileage in Excursions—and seems to run well and a long time. Around here diesel is always 30-40 cents more a gallon. I bet the margin of difference is pretty small.

But still diesels are cool. But you wouldn’t have to shut off a V10 in the drive through to order 🤣

I was seriously looking at selling my 2015 f350 and going for an excursion. But the new expeditions really have me interested. God I wish they would offer a diesel in the expeditions.

If you aren’t stuck on ford these guys are making 1 ton diesel suburbans! Literally a family hauling boats freak. I always seem to forget diesel isn’t cheaper everywhere, here it’s way cheaper.

Or you could buy a new diesel excursion from Tim.

Ha, Ha - yeah the older diesels are loud for sure!

I seriously am not trying to start this argumentative conversation rolling - but once you start pulling something, its not even close. The diesel just performs and shouldn't take that big a hit on the mpgs.....just saying...

But yeah, all engines these days are good. Lots of power with technology.

Yeah it really kinda ticks me off how much diesel is. All about supply and demand - I'm not a petroleum expert or anything, but I heard that diesel doesn't really take any refining. Its basically a byproduct...

Right now in San Angelo its $3.00 a gallon, gas is $2.15 A couple months ago, both were right at $2.15...
