Wow! Thanks for the in depth replies. I appreciate the responses. I think I’ll try to find a little bigger boat. I agree, the 08 z1 sure is a beauty.

RZ2 is next up in the Tige line, and has a pickle up front that seems great for packing in the kiddos.

just got out of an 08 z1 and went to new 23'. Loved the boat aesthetics, layout, etc, and for the price back then it was a steal. Only reason we moved out of it was for the longer, larger surf wave on 23 vs 21. Still loved the boat tho.

How was day to day life with the 2 hatch rear deck? I believe ‘08 was the only year for that. ‘09 saw the three hatch set up.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

My only real issue with how they set up the two hatches is that Tige didn't put a drip cover over the engine, the effect being that you'd get some water runoff from wet riders getting back in after a session. Also if the wind was just right it would blow the covers shut which was annoying if you were in there getting a vest or filling ballast, but that was a minor thing. Mostly good access for getting to storage, ballast, etc.

That’s about what I figured. If one were so inclined, those issues could be addressed.

One nice thing about D-drives, no water on the motor. My motor looks factory fresh and it’s nearly 20yo.

most of the newer model year brands have figured this out now, example new Tiges have a motor cover/transom walkthrough, which also serves the purpose of reducing vinyl traffic.

Ya, I mean at its core, it’s a vdrive issue. It’s been solved for a while. Well before that even. I was just kinda thinking out loud how I would fabricate my own for the ‘08 Z1. It’s the only thing I don’t like about the ‘08. I do really like the new walk thru set ups on the new boats. I was talking to my 21v buddy about doing something like that on his boat. It wouldn’t really be that hard. It’s already 3 piece.

Sorry, what were we talking about? Total hijack. Sorry.
