I am nearly 100% sure this is true. I spoke with Larry at Fresh Air Exhaust and he designed with Tige the mandrel bent, polished, oem surf pipe for Tige. The design includes both the FAE and a muffler delete pipe. Both FAE and the muffler delete I believe were tested on the Supercharged motor. with the engine builder and was approved. The muffler delete allows for a 4 inch FAE to be used on the supercharged motor because the FAE with muffler delete is less restrictive than no FAE with a muffler. I think TIge is doing retro fits for 2017s now too. Have you done a retrofit yet ElevatedConcept? Does it include the muffler delete? My understanding is that it should.

You will notice that Tige is also marketing the exhaust as Fresh Air Exhaust co branding with Larry as they worked with him. I think its a big advantage because no one knows surf exhaust as much as Larry does. I am biased though. I bought my first FAE from Larry and he has become a friend over the years. I know he is excited about Tige having FAE on their boats.

I am fairly confident although not 100% that the delete is only done on the 575. Being in the boats all the time, the 575 is drastically quieter then the other 3 and its by a long shot. I had an 18Rzx2 that was also wheeled back into production around the time Larry was delivering the first non polished mandrel systems to the factory. That one and the others I walked didnt have a delete.

Did they change it all to deletes later in 18? I dont think so but its a good question. The 575 is absolutely deleted.

I wonder if it would depend on if they knew if the boat would have an FAE on it for sure or not..... because if someone removes Fae, it would be really loud with the delete.

Well I have been in 18s mid year and the 440s and 400s sound about the same to me as the 18 they wheeled back into production to add it on.

Need to emphasize a couple of points. if you see or smell exhaust, CO can and may be present. if you DO NOT see or smell exhaust.............guess what, CO can and may still be present. It may just look like steam, which it likely is steam. It may not have a smell, as Co is oderless. Dont let it fool you, CO can be present.

New engines have come a long way, but CO is still going to be a byproduct. The heavier we load the boats and harder we work the engines, the mixture has to be more rich then a lightly loaded engine. This increases the odds of incomplete combustion. Also, boat CATs dont seem to run has hot as street CATs. This further hinders the conversion of CO to Co2. Lack of surface area and free o2 may also contribute.

I was shocked at getting woozy off the back of the RZX2. Never expected it, and never before have been susceptible. But man, it got me!

I have always been an FAE lover.

I have a newer engine with the emissions control and it would sometimes put out what looked like steam, even when you did not see anything, you could still smell it when surfing. Chpthril installed my FAE and I love it. Made a BIG difference on noise (so much easier to hear stereo back there) and not once have I smelled anything since it was installed (unless floating at idle, which I rarely do since if boat is sitting, its turned off to keep hours lower). Boat is so quiet all you hear is the water bubbling to surface when engine is running, well worth the upgrade.
Side note...I bought mine on a TO group buy last winter around Feb. You guys could put together another group buy, doing that saves between $50-$70 per system depending on how many people buy.

18s have been rolling for 5 months.. if my math lines up. I say middle of the year meaning they are into the middle section of production for 18 not that we are at exactly 6 months into 18's........although we are close.

One thing to note, that FAE needs to be made to some pretty strict quality standards and installed dead straight or it will act kind of like a partially engaged surf plate. I’ve installed several of larry’s custom pipes, but on an Rzx i’d stick with a dealer installed made in bulk (by Larry) Tige backed FAE just to keep any troubleshooting in house.

I have installed 2 FAEs on 2 different boats and found them to be very straight forward. It takes a little time, but getting them straight and solid wasn’t difficult to do. I would not be too afraid of that if one were considering doing this project.
