Hull (HIN) Numbers - Do they tell you what model the boat is??

    Hi Guys,

New to boating and and the form have a deposit down on what the guys says is 2000 Tige 21i. I think it might be a 20i by the single axle trailer. Is there a way of telling what the boat is by using the Hull numbers or does it just come down to measuring the boat stem the stern to verify? Did the 21i's usally come with double axle trailers?

    Thanks,

    #2
TIX is the manufacturer. On that early of a tige the letter after TIX is going to be the model. The last two numbers will be the year model. The number and letter before the year is the month and year manufactured. So TIXB0045K900 would be a Tige, 2200V for the model, boat number 0045, made in October of 1999, and its a 2000 model.
    Oh Yeah!

The title might say for sure. They can be inaccurate, but it is another starting point. Corporate Tige could probably even tell you the original options, like engine, interior color, etc.
      Be excellent to one another.

TIXB0045K900 would be a Tige, 2200V for the model....

So your saying "B"(the 4th digit) is the model? Then that in this case B indicates that is a 2200V? How do we know B indicates a 2200V? How would he know what the proper letter is to indicate a 21i or a 20i???

You could always call the factory with the HIN and they can tell you for sure what the boat is.

K is actually the 11th letter of the alphabet, so wouldn't that then be the 11th month????

yes, it would be November and not October lol!
Call the factory for the reference to the letter for the model. Or post here. I just happen to know the model numbers based on their letter designator. If need be I can post a list of models.
The factory can tell you the options the boat had based on the hull ID number as well.

The 4th digit is the model on the first 10,000 boats Tige produced. After that, the model became the 8th digit.
          Oh Yeah!

Thanks for the response. I have a code of TIXJ3585J900. I get the made and model years how do I get the model out of this (you got 2200V from the letter "B"). Is there a model letter chart somewhere on the form. Cant seem to find the information. I appreciate your help. Cheers.

I'm sure Koolaid will respond with corresponding model for letter "J" (fourth digit). Your boat was built in OCT 99. Or if you just can't wait you can either email Tige directly or shoot them a call tomorrow with your HIN

In most cases, the boat left the factory on a flatbed and trailer was order by the dealer, direct from a trailer manufacturer. A 2K'ish 20i or 21i on a single axle would not surprise me.

                  J is a 20i. Great slalom boat.

Most likely it has the 315hp mercruiser Mag MPI engine. Mike is right, most dealers in that era purchased their own trailers.

Tiges are still shipped from the factory on a flatbed and dealers buy their own trailers. Unless that has changed in the last 2 years. Judging by the pictures my dealer posts of them unloading them with a crane, it has not.

Thanks for all your help guys. On my way to take a final look at this before I put the rest of the money down. Merry Christmas and thanks again.

I would take a good long look at that boat and be a bit weary considering the guy either tried to mislead you that it was a 21i or worse yet(in my mind) didn't even know what his boat was. Because to me if the guy doesn't even know what boat he owns, the chances that he took care of it are not good.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah it was rougher than I thought. I still bought it but got the price down. These are so hard to find in my area for the price. Even after the work I have to do I think I should be right side up on this. Not looking forward to the work but in the end with those sweet lines sitting in the water it will all be worth it.

If you are a slalom skier the 20i puts out a decent flat wake. Not a Prostar 190 or Ski Nautique, but respectable. If you bought it for wake boarding or surfing you might be lees than impressed.

The 20i is quite smaller then the 21i.
