Try what Freeheel said first. I don't recall them being mounted with just screws at that time. I was more familiar with the towers after that.
    Oh Yeah!

Could be changed up, or the 99 could have been changed from stock setup as well. I just went out to 99 basket case i have on my hands(1000 hr boat that live a hard life in a marina, then sat for 2 years).

My ‘00 panels are thru bolted.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Yes, yours would have been through bolted. The gunnels could only catch on the deck and the back seat was part of the structure of the deck in a round about way.

You can use an air ratchet and long extension and go from under the seat bottom.

I just looked at it for a few minutes, it was stainless wood screws in between the cushions. I got a few out and can see there is an access hole behind the seat back really close to the tower bolt. Shouldn't be a problem once I have more time to find the rest of the screws and get them out. FYI, they are square head screws.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll put up some photos later to help people searching in the future.

Chopper- I should have clarified what was displayed in the oic I posted. That #8 stainless is what was holding the base of the towet to the deck. Have your tried backing out the screws at your towet base?? Do they just spin??

                    Ah. That makes sense.

My 2000 2100V had through bolts. Remove seat back and use access hole.

I just put an Indy Tower on my 21v this weekend. It is through bolted, you will need a deep well socket and having someone small enough to crawl in the storeage space in front of the helm was very helpful (my 8 year old was very helpful here). Obviously get whatever Tower you like, part of the reason that I chose the Indy tower way that is mounted directly to the Metcraft mounting holes. Plus i liked the look and price. It is much more stable than the Metcraft too. Good luck!

Cubby, do you have any pics of the new tower? I was also interested in using the same mounting holes but couldn’t find a tower that I liked that would work. I’m figuring on using the existing holes in the rear and potentially drilling new holes on the side of the boat in front. I’m putting pop up cleats in the existing front holes. At least this is the plan.

Embarrassingly the only photo I have is this one that my Wife snapped for Facebook. I can get some others this weekend. We were mounting a new sub, amp, and tower speakers, but this is the tower...IMG_1744.jpg

Got the new tower mounted and wired. It looks great and is much more solid than the old POS!
