Yep, exactly. If tige had to stock every part for every boat like auto manufacturers they would be out of business pretty quick id imagine.
I am very curious as to their long term plan for these electronics though, I really hope they have thought through a plan to keep customers happy once things start to go obsolete.

I think this is being way over analyzed. Murphy has been around for years... both the tige clear and the TT2 are not tige specific units. These are base cockpit screen display systems with tige specific programming. Unless Murphy folds... (Not realistic) then I dont see a problem down the road.Last edited by Germaine Marine; 11-14-2017, 08:15 PM.Germaine Marine

Tige Touch I was Medallion, IIRC? if so, does Tige have them in stock and ready to ship out? Should be easily answered with the number of Tige dealer reps that are regulars here.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Last TT medallion that I replaced was on a 14 Z3 and it was a while back(2 summers ago) Havent done one since so cant testify to availability. Done a couple of the new 7inch screens for phantom touch issues where it gets a mind of its own and starts turning loads on by itself.
Certainly something to be said for the keeping up with the joneses theory on helm tech. Malibu is nothing but a big AF screen now. Tige moved to the clear on z series. Seems like the tech race is just going to continue despite owners wanting something more reliable, and cheaper for the long run. Curious to see who steps in next because its all Murphy right now. Doesn't seem to stop many people from buying the dang things though.

Medallion still stocks the Tige Touch 1 screens. Its in their lineup as stated above. They will be around for a while and I see them as making retro kits as they change technologies. They have the ag business to support with that screen as well.
I don't believe the customer base the industry has now wants a less expensive boat. Otherwise you would see Hayday sell a ton of boats and the top 3 volume ski/wake boat companies would not be the most expensive brands.Oh Yeah!

Same issue with the rockford outfitted malibus and clarion mastercrafts and Naughty's. Screens may hang around but but the peripheral side effects are starting to pop up as there is no support for those. This is a result of boats being pieced together from numerous independent vendors. Cars on the other hand, the manufactures typically own a portion of any outside vendors, which is small. They prefer to build in house most of what goes in their cars.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Here is their long term plan
1) people who buy $120 k boats will buy another in 5 years
2) Warratee said boat and electronics for 5 years
3) sell new boat to same people at 5 yrs (*more likely to sell since older screens might mean unreliable screens. )
4) Now 5 yr old boat goes to someone else. Everything works well for another 5 yrs then screens go out
5) now 100% dependent on aftermarket screen industry which will likely be thriving since nobody wants to throw away a 10yr old boat
In short...I don't think any boat company cares what their screens are doing in 10-15 yrs
