power on throttle holds back at 2000 rpm on 2007 rz2

I have a 2007 rz2. It has the ability to get up in full rpms in reverse while going forward the speed levels out at about 2000 rpms and 25mph as if the cruise is on (it isn't). After having throttle down and going forward for several minutes it gets up to 32mph, but on slowing down, it takes it a while to get up to speed when full throttle. Slower speeds forward and all speeds reverse works fine. It has fresh gas and filters.
I see others have had this problem in the past. What were your solutions.
    Thanks

Sounds to me like low fuel pressure.
    Oh Yeah!

If it's getting to full RPMs in reverse it's probably a bad Throttle Position Sensor or Pedal Position Sensor (PPS) as they are called differently on a boat. Not sure how to diagnose but I'm sure Mike may chime in.
If I'm not surfing, I'm making money to surf.

On a semi related note, what's it like going full RPM's in reverse? Can't say I've ever tried that one before.

The prop is designed for forward motion not reverse, so it does not bite very well in reverse, making it easier to spin to a higher rpm. Check fuel pressure as mentioned above or for a misfire.

In a previous post a fellow tige owner found that the same problem was solved by changing the spark plugs. I will likely take it to a dealer, but since it is already winterized that will be in spring. Do you think I should see if changing the plugs first, or just take it to the dealer. I am by no means a mechanic, but I believe I could change the spark plugs.
Low fuel pressure could be it. I will have to take it into the dealer on an unrelated issue, the steering wheel has a great deal of resistance when turning and I had this when I first bought the boat 10 years ago. It was under warranty at that time and the dealer fixed it saying the steering cable had a kink in it. Anyone had this problem with steering?
Appreciate your thoughts.. I love my 2007 RZ2 it has a great look with the aluminum tower and it is RED! Great midlife crisis boat.

Remove your plugs and check the condition of them. Personally I’d just replace them all, especially being an 07’. There's a good chance they are the original plugs. Plugs are easy to replace and cheap, dealers are expensive. Start with the cheap, easy stuff and work your way to othe4 potential cause. (Fuel pumps/etc)

If you want to eliminate secondary ignition as the problem, replace the distributor cap, rotor and plug wires along with the plugs. Do you know when these items were last changed?
