    Taps 3 retrofit???

Does anyone know if Tige will sell the taps 3 plates for me to add on to my 2016 R22? My dealer says they can’t get them. Is there anyone out there who can get them? We bought this boat with the intention that the dealer could get them for us to add on when we could afford it.

Give the guys at Germaine marine a call. Jason is the guy to talk to, they’ll get you hooked up

Don't know why your dealer would tell you this. It's as simple as contacting Lee with your HIN number and telling him what parts you want. Really though you'd want to update to the current 2018 version where actuators are attached at transom and plate instead of platform and plate. Not that hard of a job to complete either. Have a new pair of 2018 plates at the shop right now, no actuators or the the mount hardware though. I'm wondering why your dealer is dragging their feet on this?? Getting parts at dealer cost, marking them up, and tacking on labor this is a pretty easy $ maker for service dept, especially over winter. There is a chance that for some reason tige isn't letting your dealer buy the parts but I doubt it.

I was told by local dealer, 4 others and Tige direct that the tabs weren’t available for purchase

hmm, seems odd but I would get it. If it was a boat sitting on the dealers lot and they wanted to retrofit to help move it out of inventory I'm sure they would do it, so why not for the guy that wants to retro it on after the fact.

            Taps 3 retrofit???

I guess my question wasn’t the way I intended it to be. Has anyone done this or is it purely talk that Tige has sent them the plates?

If anyone has the plates and would like to sell them, I will buy them.

Germaine fabs up the plates themselves exactly like Tige.

Tige won’t sell the plates. If you need taps 3 feel free to give me a ring. 714-306-3999. We can get you what you need.

Interesting, learn something new everyday. Seems odd that Tige wouldn't sell the plates to their dealers, but then a dealer could turn around and clone their plates and sell them to the public. Seems dangerously close to patent infringement. Guess I should just copy some plates and start selling kits. We have changed a handful of 16 plates that were the first stitch welded versions that fell apart or sank to the bottom of the lake, and then retrofitted our inventory with the new ones but never had anyone ask us to retrofit a non taps 3 boat with it. Did they remove your other tracking fin to mimic the single fin like other taps 3 boats as well??

No I didn’t. Do all the Taps 3 boats have only one? Or it just a 2017 feature?

As far as I know 16 and up went to a single fin in conjunction with Taps 3. Never heard the reason/science behind it. I would guess that it allows the boat to crabwalk ever so slightly with less fins in the water while surf tabs are deployed, but they obviously did it for a reason. At least they didn't try and do something like Centurion with the CATS.

Some of you guys make me laugh. Tige has been doing this since at least 2012 and its all over this site from end to end. They never offer the parts to refit. Never have. VX, AVX TAPS 3, Wet sounds speaker collars, etc.

Reasoning is pretty easy to figure. People don't need to buy a new boat if they can get the latest greatest innovation from the factory to add to their existing boat.

I'm not hating on Tige....all the manufacturers do it.

When I spoke with Lee at Tige he recommended wakemakers wave control as a comparable add on. I see them as an aftermarket add on that could potentially devalue my boat and that concerns me. At what point is unmolested better on resale? I want something that looks like it fits with the other taps tab.

Does anyone know if the actuators will link up to the Tige touch 2 without a problem? It seems like the wires with connectors are already at the transom. I assume the computer is set up for them from the factory also?

GSA (wakemakers is crazy expensive compared to taps 3) and it probably won't work as well with the touch screen. Seriously give Jason a call, as I said no other dealer does it.
