    WTB: Convex VX for RZR/R20

Looking to buy a Convex VX for RZR/R20 with Rev. 2 Brackets- Ideally Gray but Black or White would work too.

not looking to spend more than 300 to 500 with ship. (im in Indiana, would drive to pick up - with in 1 -2 hours drive)

Pm me if you have one you would like to sell

    Thanks!

This is just my opinion but I would go for taps 3. The wave will be much better and The vx will require more weight to list over and sink down,

Not on a 2014, you cant, right? Needs to be the TT-2 witch is Murphy. 2014 was still Medallion.

You could install tabs with the momentary LANCO trim tab switches.

I do agree that one of the aftermarket surf aparatuses would yield a better wave then the static VX.

        Thanks bsreid, chpthril

I agree with you 100%, our lake we are not aloud to use any surf system or ballast, The Convex VX is technically a hull extension, so we could have it ( there is another RZR on the Lake with one)

The kids are still able to surf, no ballast or surf system just 10.8 and me sitting in the back on surf side.

We do go to other lake every now and then (1-4 time in the summer), but not enough to justify Buying Taps3 or GSA.

So the VX is a cheap add on that will help when we do go to another lake.

Conventional thinking is that the hull extension = greater buoyancy. Without additional ballast, the boat will displace less water = smaller surf wave.

Id stash a couple hundred in lead/steel ballast behind the wall and skip the VX.

yes I agree that on our lake it would make the wave worst.

I grew up Ocean surfing, for me surfing behind the boat is fun but Id rather be wake boarding. Mostly for the kids

Would mainly just use the VX when we are on vacation at a lake we can surf weighted. Plus it is easily removable.

If I can pick one up for cheap, just something to play around with.

The simplest solution is just to move to a new lake!

The 2014 is available if you use Lenco switches. Are the people on your lake really going to know that you have a surf system. You have no evidence, just say the tabs are for leveling out the boat when on plane. That’s exactly what the switch is actually meant for.

The lake is a Private lake owned by the land owners of the community(lake is 370 acres). We have a Conservancy and Patrol hired by the conservancy. We actually sign a paper stating we have disabled the surf systems and removed the ballast and if caught would loose our lake right for the year. No one really removes or disable their systems but just do not use them. The loop hole is you could have all your friends pilled in the boat for weight and they can do nothing, Regardless, Im not trying to break the rules, the lake is beautiful and it a great community, out of respect I would only do what I am allowed. The rules are there for good reason.

We can go to other lakes to surf, not a big deal for us.

All the reasons posted on not to us the VX are a great reason for someone to remove their Grey VX to sell to me so they can upgrade to Taps3 or GSA..........lol!

I will chime in having had an RZR with and without the VX. First there isn't a revision II with the Brackets for the 20 footers. It was the bigger boats namely the Z3.

2nd they are a huge pain in the butt to take on and off. Its a 2 to 3 person job. I wouldn't want to do it on a constant bases. Thats based on installing and removing from lots of boats working for a dealership. They never line up quite right and fitting your hands in-between to do the bolts with lock nuts is a pain.

Last I think you understand the concept of the VX wrong. It makes the boat behave like it is a larger boat. Giving it more surface are. Making the boat require significantly more weight to build the same wake. I believe the boat is capable of building a larger wake with the VX, but with probably double the weight. Personally we liked the non VX wave better. We were roughly a 1000 lbs more weight with the VX and still hadn't seen a noticeable improvement over the non VX wave. Considering you can't run weight I see no advantage of having a VX. Your going to go from running a 4000 lb 20 foot boat to running a 22 foot 4000 lb boat. That equates to noticeable less displacement meaning smaller wave with less push. I'm no physics major but its pretty easy math. The VX helps people running major weight and them alone.

just meant with the revised brackets , did not want to get the the first gen brackets that caused the wrong angle. Based on what I have read it was across the board for all Models Z & RZ.

I do understand how the VX works, as i said in my 2nd post it for when we go to another lake. But I did not realize it would take that much more weight!

My biggest reason for wanting the VX is many have said that it makes a better, cleaner, longer wave.

When the VX came out after the initial issue with the brackets was fixed, people seemed to think it was a big improvement, then the AVX came out then TAP3 killed the short run of AVX.

Everyone has there own opinion and I have no experience with the VX, so are you saying the VX was a total Flop for Tige?

Honestly the boat surfs great as is, really no complaint, just thought it was a minimal cost option to make the wave longer.

                        WTB: Convex VX for RZR/R20

I have the Vx on my Z1. It is certainly not a flop. However it needs insane weight and a suck gate to get the most out of it. As others said, it makes your boat act bigger than it already is. I have tried both and I prefer the Vx wave to the non-Vx wave. It is cleaner for sure.

In your case I would just get a suck gate. It's far cheaper and works well when you leave your home lake. It would also work better with stock ballast.

This video shows what it looks like when I start from no ballast and go up to lots.

                          thanks JohnnieMo,

I have read many of your posts, threads, videos on the VX and your other experiments. Think they are great!!!Nice work!
Your Cedar Surf Board Video's ....Awesome.

                          I do have a Nauticurl,.

Guess I was not aware that the VX required so much extra weight, if that is the case then I guess the VX does not make sense.

The reason I ask if it was a Flop,

Why would Tige put a VX on a boat like the RZR with PRO factory ballast, knowing it would require much more weigh than they provided?

This would be like a car maker touting they have a great new feature, but it would not work correctly unless the consumer bought aftermarket parts to make it work.

Saying it doesn’t work probably isn’t the best way to put it. It probably surfs just fine with stock. The thing is everyone on here wants the best wave possible. My wave was decent with just the surf ballast but not good enough, so I added bigger bags and then one step further to Taps 3. So what I’m trying to say is it’s definitely not a flop, just something I wouldn’t consider adding. I’d go surf flap before vx, that’s definitely your cheapest option too.

RZR never had a pro factory ballast option. Just stock and Surf. Pro is larger front bags and there isn't room in the RZR.

Like said above every boat requires more ballast. With the VX is requires a lot more than without. On our 14 RZR we were roughly 1000 lbs above where we had or 13 without dialed in perfectly. WE still weren't there, but close. Needed to add more bow weight because it changes the COG as it basically adds 2 feet of length to the rear running surface.
