and hence the reason why you get a FAE (Fresh Air Exhaust). Search them online and buy one! All the new Tire's are either coming with them or is an option. With even weight and more weight the fumes don't get into the wash as much. The FAE directs the fumes down so the issue goes away.
Hard to believe it's the Nauticurl that causing the issue. What else are you doing different now that you run it? I assume you were surfing before you started using it. Did he not smell the fumes then?
Any suck gate delays the wave, that's its job. This also creates a pocket for the fumes to stay stagnet in vs being washed away. My point about adding more weight and running level will/can affect more fumes "if" they've switched from listing to suck gate and now running somewhat flat. Usually no one just slaps a suck gate on without changing their setup. But maybe they didn't with the AVX (not an expert on the AVX) but AVX is gone for a reason and suck gates will do a better job then the AVX.....so i 100% agree its the Nauticurl thats causing it.
Im wondering if the the evenly weight setup now has the exhaust out of the water, where as the listed had it in the water, washing the exhaust into the wave more. Maybe the added engine load.

Not aware of FAE being an option for AVX boats. The exhaust exits in the center "Hump" of the AVX where the Taps 2 plate is. Probably more of the exhaust fumes are escaping the "tunnel" into the rider area because of the wave shap and lack of list. I've experience more fumes running a shaper in certain circumstances. If the OP was using a shaper with an AVX setting toward the lower end of the scale, I bet this issue would diminish. Of course, there is always the "prettier wave but less push issue" the lower you run AVX (at least on my boat).
Ok
This is making sense now with everyone's thoughts.
I know we now have more of an open air pocket behind the boat now running it more level and using the nauticurl.
Where should I buy an FAE kit and is it a DIY project.
Yes you can get an FAE either through your local Tige dealer or through FAE direct. Still not sure on how all the works, I think its 17' model and newer have to go through Tige and older models can go direct with FAE, at least that is how I understood it. I have done 4 FAE installs now and they are pretty straight forward. Keep in mind also that when surfing with more ballast you are running I higher RPM which means more exhaust. Also because the boat is evenly weighted (or close to depending on setup) that both exhaust exits will be completely out of the water or again close to. An FAE will quiet the boat down quite a bit as far as exhaust noise plus the obvious of putting the exhaust fumes down into the water. If your handy with a drill, screw driver, and hack saw it can be done in a few hours in your driveway.
My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"
The exhaust outlet is below the AVX, correct?. Im not sure an FAE will work on an AVX boat. Unless its the new design that secures to the flange and TAPS hinge only and is angled to allow for the AVX to travel to its lowest point. The fixed AV boats would be much easier. Not saying FAE does nto have this resolved, just dont recall since the AVX was so short lived.
