    Transmission issue in RZ4

Hi, my son was going to take the boat out yesterday. Had trouble getting into gear to reverse off the trailer and then when it got off the trailer it wouldn't go into gear going forward at first. He got it in then it slipped out. After this happened a couple of times he put it back on trailer. He checked level which showed ok. Now, here is the back story. We changed the transmission in the PCM vdrive a couple of weeks ago and this was first time it was back in the water. We had gotten water in it (long story) and after talking with Harvey at Tige and PCM factory tech we changed the transmission fluid( was running fine though before we changed it). Took the dipstick out and the two plugs when changing it and filled it through the two plugs. Used a bit over a quart. Made sure all were tightened back up and dipstick back tight. Used the special Mobil (now Delvac) oil needed. Clearly we must have done something wrong with the change as we have never had issues with transmission slipping before. Do you all have any idea what it could be?
    Thanks!!

No idea if it's the same in these boats as it is in cars, but in a car that has gone too long without its trans fluid being changed, then once it does get changed it is very common for the trans to fail right afterwards. This is because all the friction material has left the plates and is now floating around in the fluid. It's just adequate to keep the thing running. Once that fluid gets removed all the friction material goes with it. At that point it doesn't take long for slipping to start then failure.

Was the Mobil/Delvac an ATF fluid?

Not sure. It is the exact oil PCM said to use, though.

Need to make sure that you didn't put vdrive oil in your trans. Check the viscosity and the label on the container and post back.
