Any dealers out there have video of the 2:1 trans vs a 1.5:1

I was looking on you tube and there are several nautique vids but nothing for Tige yet.

Would love to see real world difference.

Also anyone know if the 2:1 is in all boats for 18 sold with 360 400 440?

    Thanks

I think the 2:1 is just the RZX series boats.

I am not sure a video would do you any good. Maybe some guys sitting in a boat saying 'it really takes off fast'?

The 2:1 ratio tranny is now in Nautique, Malibu and Axis boats as well. I think it is safe to say this is the cat's meow. It allows you to spin a larger prop, with greater pitch, which results in less slip, thus maximizing the boat's available torque better.

Understood. There are several videos on YouTube with same boats one equipped with 1.5 to 1 drag racing full ballast against 2:1 and it's pretty obvious that the 2:1 wins. Just wanted to see tige vs tige.

I am also curious about this. I am looking at a new 2017 RZX2 with the 400 and trans is 1:1.
#1...is that enough motor for the boat (elevation is 800ft)...I will be adding at least 2000lbs to the stock ballast in bags and/or lead.
#2...will having the 1:1 trans and smaller motor hurt my resale down the road since most are gonna have the 2:1 trans. I have heard that 400 is plenty with the 2:1, which makes sense with the conversion of torque.

I was told that you can basically tell no difference between the 400 and 440 engine...and its only when you step to 460 that you can tell the power difference. Do others find this to be true?

Above 4k rpm you can tell a little difference.

However, I'll take a 400 with the 2/1 over a 440 with the 1.5/1 any day of the week and it's not close. The gearing change really is that much better....

I think it is leverage for the buyer when shopping for 2017 leftovers. It will hopefully impact your resale pretty close to what you got in the bargain on the initial sale.

                    Hey elevated,
How does one determine which trans they have in their boat? That part of the conversation with my dealer was never discussed prior to the sale. I have the RZX2 - 400 and push a ton of weight like you; don't have a problem with it although my rpms are higher than I would normally like. Was pondering of moving up to a 16" prop next year but this trans discussion has be curious.

I would call your dealer unless you want to stick your head under the floor to look at the stamp. A call to your dealer would be the quickest and easiest way to determine. If your boat did not come with the 16.5 prop from the factory then you should have the 1.5-1
