    Winterizing heater PCM ex343?

First time winterizing myself. Can someone clarify the process for the heater? Where is it located on the engine? I know I'm supposed to pull the inlet and outlet hoses and blow air thru. Should I run AF thru as well? Do I need to do anything else?

Heater itself is likely located forward of the helm. The hoses should be easy to find and follow to where they connect to the engine. They are the only black heater hoses leaving away from the engine going toward the front of the boat. If you get the water out, there is nothing more needed to do to the heater core. No antifreeze needed if all the water is out. What you dont want to do, is leave the water and try to winterize with antifreeze only. This will likely leave water in the core.

Mike nailed it. We drain all blocks and manifolds first then run antifreeze but we do so many boats we do it so as not to dilute our mix. Blow heater out first. You have to have block plugs out so water has a place to go. Not sure what year boat you have but I believe post 14 model years have inline pumps. Don't blow compressed air thru it if you have one.

      EDIT,
Hutch, also failed to mention I don't pull both heater supply and heater return when blowing out, hence the block plugs being out. While block and manifolds are draining I just pull heater supply line from block and blow it out which pushes water all the way out block drains. One less hose in the process.

Hi, I hope you have successfully completed your job. Most of the time we are unable to understand the new things. Winterizing is the best way to get prepared for the coming season. I have also heard about professional moving company queens from my friend who provides winterizing service. According to me professionals are well trained and experienced to provide you quality driven service.

I take both heater hoses off the engine and hand pump the antifreeze through one hose until I see pink from the other hose.

I cannot see the hoses on the heater core where mine is mounted.

The hoses come up the bottom on the heater core. I do know what you mean though - between all the wood baffling and the low mounting point of the heater, it isn't accessible. You don't want to access it there anyways.... makes a mess. Ask me how I know.
