    Taps 3 issue

I installed the w005 bags from MLA yesterday on my 18 rzr. Very happy with the wave with my wife and I in the boat and our 15 yr old daughter surfing. Today we went out with 5 adults, my daughter and a 4 yr old. Heavier than yesterday but not too heavy by any means. I'm the heaviest adult at 165 lb. Played around setting up the wave with everyone in the boat and settled on full ballast in aft and 70% bow. Had taps and taps 3 set up to my liking on both sides. Wave looked very good. My daughter jumped in to surf and when I hit the throttle I knew something wasn't right. The port side wave wouldn't set up. Stopped and repeated and had same result. We ended up surfing goofy. I'm thinking maybe there is a problem with my starboard taps 3. My dealer is replacing taps 3 actuators this fall but I still have a month and a half of boating before I pull it out. Any tips to reset or remedy this until I pull it out in Oct?

    Thanks.

Certainly want to eliminate any actuator issues, but also want to make sure you didnt have any passive draining happen. Next time out, make sure the level of the sac didnt drop after some time.

Thanks Mike. Once I had the ballast filled I set taps 3 at 4 and taps at 4. Speed set at 11 mph. When I throttled up and reached speed I was happy with the look but decided to play with the taps 3 settings going from 4 down to 1 to see how the wave looked. I went back to taps 3 at 4 and settled on that. Stopped the boat, daughter got in the water and when I took off there was no list at all. I then set taps 3 at 3 then 2 then 1 and I had nothing. I hit the surf right switch and everything was perfect. This all happened within just a minute or two of me filling the ballast so I couldn't have lost much water at all. I'll call my dealer tomorrow for advice.
BTW...thanks for the support and tips on the w005 bags. It's exactly what that boat needs. I also want to check out your passive water loss remedy.

Did you shut the motor off and then start it again? If you did it could have needed a battery reset I know it's different operating system then an R20 but I have to have screen off turn batteries on start motor then screen otherwise my taps system does not work.

Devaju man, I have had the same actuator replaced twice. You think your going nuts, mine did the same thing when I was trying to change the taps 3 on the fly. The weird thing when the actuators go is that its so inconsistent...works one time - not the next. Switch from right to left then back to right and it works...its the damdest thing. There is a way to check the action of the actuators but your dealer has to give you the code to do so on your touch screen. If they let you do it cycle through left and right surf fully deployed and you have to have someone put a little pressure on the plate. Thats the only way they could tell that one of mine was cooked...if you didnt put some pressure on it, it worked fine. As soon as you grabbed it, it wouldn't move. I went through it all summer, frustrating as hell but my dealer and tige were really good about it. I dont make big changes on the fly anymore, maybe a setting or two but thats it. Make big adjustments when your are stopped, fine tune on the fly. Sounds like actuator problems but there is wiser guys than me on here...

You can make changes on the fly... lenco has a recall on the actuators, the seals are failing and getting water in them. The Gen 3 actuator is pretty tough so far, I have pounded on them for 4-6 hours making changes underway with above stock weight. No issues.

Your actuator most likely has water in it. There is really no way around it, until you get your new actuators installed.

lol...elevated you were the that told me not to adjust to many times on the fly...thats your quote below.

Sometimes if adjusting up and down countless times while in motion the plates just cant get to the correct movement. I rarely adjust on the fly especially with big weight. Have you got under the boat and flexed the plates and or noticed that aside from the Rzx series the actuators are mounted to the swim step? Couple all those things and the fact that those lencos regardless of system tend to get hung on movement from time to time and you have all the makings of inconsistency.

Set the boat at rest and test. That my motto. Once correct, go to the other side and repeat. Once those are good transferring is good to go.

Like I mentioned the actuators sometimes get hung, especially underway. Stop the boat and relaunch and you are good. This isnt just a taps 3 thing... Thegerman and I experience the same things at times and he has GSA... its just the actuators.

As far as settings... I differ then ragboy so take it for what its worth.

I tune off the inclinometer, 8-9 degrees of bow rise and roughly 5-6 degrees of roll from side to side.

Rears full and plugged or correctly plumbed. Front 60-80% depending on whos in the boat. Again tune to inclinometer.

Taps 3 at 1 on goofy and 4 on regular.

Taps 2 at 3-5 weight depending. Stock weight means more taps plate.

Now that the actuators are fixed you can make adjustments on the fly...... is my post confusing?

The gen 2 actuators were failing both with stock weight and big weight, we were getting a longer run out of them making adjustments at rest vs while in motion.

I know what I said, no need to quote me but it was for a reason... the actuators have been fixed thus now making changes while underway a non issue.

Lol...well I didn't mean to through that in your face either bud. I didn't know which gen of actuator they were on now only that it is a royal pain in the *** for all involved including tige and the dealers. I was just going off the last info I had that worked for me, the part about the way wiser guys on here was meant for you. I didn't take it too personal.

Yeah gen 3 actuator seems to be really solid, the whole motor tone is different so while lenco said it was just a seal change I doubt it. The motor has a much lower more growling sound when deploying and stowing.
