wheel dolly question - 2 or 4 needed?

I've come to the realization I don't have a ton of space in my garage and I'm looking to maximize the space as I'm storing my boat ('14 RZ2) for the 1st time in there but to take up as little room I was going to get a set of wheel dollies to help tuck it right into the corner and side wall.

My question has to do with how many dollies do I need. I have a tandem axle so my question is do I need to put a dolly under all 4 wheels or can I just do 1 per side? My 1st thought was all 4 but then I thought that that may make it harder to wheel the boat around in tight spaces so insight on this would be appreciated.

I've found a pair that says 1500 per dolly (3000lbs for the pair) does anyone have real results on if that rating will do for just moving the boat a few feet?

Tough one...I had the same boat and put 4 of the Go Jaks under the boat and trailer...it was so heavy I could not move it a bit. Id be curious to see if you will be able to move it...

2thdoc01 -Came across this video on why not to buy similar jacks that you tried.......

I'm going with less tech which requires a jack but the wheels seems to be a higher quality so fingers crossed!

still hoping to get other reviews of what others have used!

Im betting you'd need four. With only two the tire without the jack would likely still be on the ground.
I'm wondering if those dollies would fit if you had one on each tire, front to back. Seems like they'd hit each other. Maybe sideways?

wheel dolly question - 2 or 4 needed?

I use the harbor freight car dollys on my 20i. They work great and I move them myself. I use 4 on my tandem axel. Best way to move my boat in the garage.

I've also used the standard dollies to manoeuvre my Z1 in the garage. (I actually pulled it in the garage backwards to save more space in the front of the garage)

The standard dollies work great.... Particularly on a nice flat cement floor. I can move it myself. I highly recommend.

I also got one of those jacking dollies. The principle seems good but they don't work for heavy items. My boat is 6000lbs and by the numbers it should have worked, but it couldn't lift it. Don't bother with those for a boat.

Another note is size. Those little wheel dollies store nice in a cabinet. The jacking dolly is massive and needs its own room.

And yes - you'll need four to better distribute the weight.

Johnnie, those look like the exact same dollies I bought from Princess Auto, the heavy duty ones, $199 (Can) a pair, there were ones cheaper but they didn't have a 5,000lbs rating and spent the extra $. I ended up buying 4 and using them Thursday, tough for 1 person to push but we found it super easy when backing the trailer in with the truck and maneuvering it while it was backing up (put the dollies on as soon as the wheels got into the garage and and the hitch still attached to the truck) and from there on, super easy to push and slide it into the back corner tight to the wall.
I'll have to remember to store them the way you've shown, as it totally makes sense. Didn't get time to install the new TAPS plate or the FAE (might be a fall job when we are up at the cabin for Thanksgiving) or wait till June.

I got mine from Princess Auto too. I don't recall them being that expensive but maybe they were.

It's tough to get the boat to move the first inch as you need to get all the castors going the same direction. But once it moves you are fine.

Glad to hear it worked for you! Where in Canada are you located?
