Yeah I thought about that.... How can I check that engine is good to go and has not overheated? Is there some type of contract I can draw up that I will be checking the engine? Sorry for all of these probably stupid questions? I have never purchased a boat before #newbie

As others mentioned changing the impeller is normal procedure pretty much every 100 hours/once a year type thing. With only 40ish hours on it the previous impeller was most likely the original that the boat would've shipped with. Being an 08 it would definitely require replacing. Also, as mentioned the low hours can be more harmful than good as no motor likes to sit unused but you probably won't know until you start using it again. You may also want to consider changing the belt. It won't be stretched out from running but it's a relatively cheap part to replace. I'd replace it and keep the one you took off as your spare. Search the threads for a basic tool kit to keep on the boat for on water fixes.

Welcome to the boating life....it's a great one but can come with some headaches but it's all worth it!

In '08 the 340 wasn't standard, the 320 was. The 340 was an upgraded option. Here's a pic of my last boat and it was the 320 which was more than plenty of power for everything I needed it for(on my Z1). I was in the same boat(LOL) as a you 4 years ago when I bought a used '08 with 60 hours barely used and was my first ever boat. Put on 220 hours with no issues with it then recently upgraded to a '13.
