Am I asking a lot from my dealer?

In the market to buy/build a 2018 (possibly a 17). As I currently own a Tige, I figured, I might as well give them a shot to get my business. I like the boats, I've tested many others over the last year and ehhh.... I figure with a dealer minutes away, this could work out well for both parties.

I called the dealer on getting me over some sort of a build sheet, spoke to a kind gentlemen and he informed methat the owner would have to do this as he has access to that information. I told him, that's not a problem. Gave him my information, this was 1 week ago on Wednesday. I called him back on Thursday and asked if he wrote my email address down correctly and maybe the email was sent to the wrong recipient, he says oh maybe. Informs me that it will be done today. (nothing)

Today is Wednesday, approximately 1 week has gone by, no follow up, no email, no phone call. Called them back, both salesmen and owner are not in the office. Left a message. Waiting to hear back. I'm not sure if I'm asking for a lot? or are they not wanting new business? I dunno.

Meanwhile, I called Malibu as well, near distance away. Not only did they send me over a build sheet for a 23 lsv, (same day) they also let me know about incentives that they might have on their 17 models in stock, or if I found in any other dealer state wide. They would be able to deliver the boat down here and work a deal.

If buying a boat seems to be a hassle, I wonder how the service would be on the Tige. Pretty discouraged. I will still give Tige benefit of the doubt and wait to hear back from them, although I'm pretty skeptical this is going to workout.

I don't want to mention the dealer as it's not really a bash. They could very well be extremely busy and to them, I'm just another caller on the phone. I did let the gentlemen know, that i was pricing boats with more then their company. To add a bit more urgency. So, I don't know if they really don't care or I'm just being impatient.

    Rant over.

I work for a prominent boat manufacturer, you are not asking to much at all. If a report of an unresponsive dealer is received by my sales or marketing dept, every attempt is made to satisfy every potential customer.

I always find it interesting to see what people exceptions of other people are and what they are willing to accept for service. My wife and I just had a conversation about this today and wish I could understand why some people have realistic expectations vs. those that have extremely unrealistic expectations.

To me, you are clearly on the side of realistic expectations. To me what you are experiencing is completely unacceptable. I work in a small business, we manufacture a small line of our own product in addition to distributing product for a few companies. We have a total of 6 employees currently, 2 of which are our sales/customer service people. The company has clear guidelines that if a client leaves a message or sends an email, they MUST get a response the same business day. If we are unable to provide an answer, we must acknowledge it and let them know it is being looked into. If we do not have the information or an answer the next business day, the client MUST hear from us each and EVERY business day following to at least let them know we are working on it and what information we need to gather... Obviously if it is sending them a stock instruction sheet/form...the communication is sent out right away. Yes, during the busy times of the year, this can become overwhelming but it is the standard we set. Is this the norm? Not at all, several of our suppliers do not get back to us for several days and some we have to follow up with. Because the owner has been so frustrated by our suppliers we are not allowed to treat our clients this way.

All you are asking for is a form. If for some reason they don't want to/can't share it with you, they should explain that and request to set up a time for you to come in. When we ordered a boat, they asked that we sit down and build it together. This allowed them to let us know what we would pay for each option instead of MSRP. We never did get a build form until we had completed our order, but they walked us through it and we got what we decided on within our budget. There are alot of ways things could be handled other than not returning a call. Most of the time, dealers will overwhelm you with service before the sale and then either continue to treat you right or disappoint you after.

If you don't treat me right to earn my $$$ you will not get it.

Sorry for the rant, but people that cannot respond to a simple request PISS me off. There are just some things that you need service for, for everything else there is Amazon.

Contact Tige and get in touch the dealer's sales rep. Let them know you are having a hard time buying your 2nd Tige.

Tige periodically has spontaneous rebates that can be offered at the dealer level. Maybe your current local dealer is checking on that?

I dont know personally, the lack of communication or reasonable response time I think is the problem here. Cant say its the first time I have heard this in regards to dealers we get busy and while not a good excuse its the truth.

I checked my email, and remembered we had talked a few months ago. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you want to re-open the subject as I was sure you had purchased already.

Raffit- Absolutely NOT being unreasonable. There are a few here that are local to you as you can probably see by the locations. I can tell you we are all familiar with the Dealership you are speaking of, we know the owner and his son. There is reason I am on my second Tige and have never bought one from the dealer you are speaking of. There are other brands and dealers in the area that I am sure have good service and would love your business. I can appreciate you wanting to stick with the brand and keep with Tige, may I suggest to get a better service and faster response to reach out to a different dealer that may/will have more of a service friendly environment.

                  Perhaps Germaine Marine in Mesa?

You absolutely are not expecting to much from that dealer. This is one of my biggest pet peeves of people and business now a days it is becoming all to common and too much laxidasical behavior, lack of follow up or you having to do it your self, completely unacceptable.

Bought my first Tige from Chris there 25 years ago. They sell a lot of boats there. Sounds strange, ask for the owner.

Chris Ainsworth retired a year and a half ago. They are under new ownership. Chris Mulvania is the new owner. Their new location is in Lake Elsinore a few doors down from California Skier (Master Craft dealer).
