    Trailering and Bimini top

How fast can the boat be trailered down the highway with the Bimini top up? As difficult as it is o remove and install the Bimini, I hate to do it more than I have too.

I wouldn't travel down the highway with the bimini up. If you were just driving around local streets, you would be fine. I wouldn't go over 45 with it up.

How fast can your boat go? That's how fast I would safely tow it with it up

Bimini is cake to put up and take down. Easily less than a minute to put up. Less than 3 to take down. Secret is to get a 6-7 foot section of line. Pre-wrap it so the canvas and poles are nice and tight. Then just zip the cover on. If you don't Pre wrap it, it's a bit unwieldy.

Trust me...you don't wanna tow on highway. I did that once late at night when I was tired after a session and forgot cause i was rushing. 5mins down the highway, I heard the flapping and knew I screwed up. Luckily...it just tore some threads on a flap and slightly "unrounded" once my my bimini poles where I can adjust how tight it gets. I took it to upholstery shop and had them fix the tear, and then go over entire thing and double stitch. Money well spent....but I learned my lesson. I will not go over 40mph with it up.

Bakes5 - Thanks for the idea of wrapping it with line before putting up. i fight with the thing every time. do you just tie the line at both ends or have some way of hooking it?

I live less than 5 miles from the lake so I always leave mine up. The tag on the top says not to exceed 45 MPH. So, that is what I do and never have had a problem. I don't leave it up for any trip to the lake over 20-30 miles.

I use a piece of line from a ski rope. . I just loop one end then make a noose. Pull it tight and then wrap right to left. Last wrap I just tuck under and it holds well enough to get the cover on. You don't need many wraps. Just 4-5 or so. Enough to hold the bars in place and tame the fabric. Cover zips on EZ after that.

^^ I use 2- 24" gear ties and they work well plus they make for other creative fun on the water. We've nicked named them "fidget sticks"

Rumour has it that someone made a video on how best to setup and take down the Alpha Z bimini. Anyone got the link for that? I struggle with mine too. I usually get remove it entirely and throw it in the boat if it is wet, or I am tired.
