    Help with '17 R23 (Z3) Wakeboard Wake

Please school me on how to prevent a potential upgrade to an RZX3 or (sorry for this) a G23. I have a '17 R23

We've been going early morning lately to get smooth water and haven't found a consistent wake. One morning last week we thought we had finally found it. 5 people in the boat, 100% tanks full in the front, 35% in the both rear bags, speed 22-23 mph, 70' rope. It was beautiful but I can't repeat for some reason that I can't fathom.

I've read all of the Z3 recommendations that I can find and have tried a few more things, but nothing seems to keep me from yearning for something better. I can't even seem to get both sides to be similar in size or cleanliness.

    Sincerely, your humble student.

P.S. I've only got about 10 days to get this dialed before the big Lake Powell trip.

One recommendation for when you do get it dialed is to figure out your angles of the boat. This might help you get a similar wake each time if you have the angles right. Hope this helps.

Our wake on the Z3 at 22mph, no ballast, taps 7or 8 is money.

What do you have your Taos at? Sometimes with it at a higher number you can hard time holding speed depending on people.

The ballast seems about right, is the engine pushing it all and holding speed? Also make sure you drive straight

Were the people sitting in the same spots? Gave up wakeboarding some time ago, but moving on person in a boat can sometime make a difference. Taps in the same settings? Did you fill the tanks the same way ( i.e.- if your timers are off, or you went empty to 35 vs from full to 35, you could have a different amount of water in th rears).

I don't think the R Series has the inclinometer built in. You can get a free inclinometer (angle measure) for your smart phone. If you find what you lime make note of the angle side to side and front to back and you should be able to replicate it. Also note that the Z1 (R21) and Z3 (R23) are notorious for being weight sensitive from side to side. This makes for a great surf hull but more finicky for wakeboarding. As mentioned just having a person moving around in the boat can make a difference, especially for an even wake on each side.

We are going to wake up early in the morning to get some water and no wake up. I had to tried write my essay. It happened once that we all though we got it. 5 people in a boat, 100% full tanks in the front, 35% in both backpacks, 22-23 mph speed, 70 'rope. It's beautiful but I can't repeat it for some reason that I can't stress.
