Camping and can't get the boat to start

So we are camping and can't get the boat to turn over. I've played with the throttle and it's not that. I can hear a clicking noise. I feel it the starter. But I've tried both banks of batteries, both new less then two month ago, and both on trickle charger when stored. Everything is stock. I've smacked the starter and it we heard it rotate but very little, and the nothing since

Any ideas what to look at. Or try, we have basic tools with us.

FYI when we first took it out after buying it the boat pretty much flooded when the raw water line fell off. The whole drivetrain was flooded. The shop that did the repair work felt the starter might fail.

I would agree that the starter is bad since it had the water intrusion.
I don't know how to McGyver out of that one?

When you get water on the starter, they are ok for a bit, and then seize. I have been in your same situation, and a hammer may get it going like you tried, but most likely, you need a new starter and there is nothing else.

I've been there too. After being wet the starter worked that day, but next time on the lake it seized. New starter needed....

Any boat over 5 years old needs a spare starter in their weekend saver kit.

Prop, starter, impeller, fluids, hose clamps, serpentine belt, couple of hoses, assorted wires, electrical tape, fuses, and a few different connectors will make the difference. Especially a trip like Lake Powell.

Water fried our starter too. We jumped it with a battery pack for the weekend. I am not sure if that is a good idea or not though. It worked for us either way.
