    Howling prop shaft

We took on some water the other weekend from the fill plug coming off a fat sac. Noticed it when the belts started squealing, freaked me out but we got it all pumped out and everything seems fine. Today I fired it up on the hose to check for leaky hoses and put it in gear and the prop shaft started howling real bad. Is there a bearing for the shaft that may have gone bad or any way to grease it?

Pretty sure there's a bushing in the prop strut that is lubricated by water flowing over it while driving. I've always been told running the prop/shaft in gear while out of the water is a big no no on a vdrive as it wrecks that bushing.

There is a bearing, however, it is water lubed. One time should be ok, but dont run in gear out of water unless you have someone hosing down the strut.
