Strangest things you've seen while boating..

This one is from my son.

He was out with some if his buddies. As they were pulling away from the sandbar, local party spot, a pontoon comes cruising up with a life size plastic cow perched on the bow. This in it's self is only mildly strange, but what makes this worthy of posting, was the bare chested babe 'ridin the bull'. Now, i'm not against public nudity, but I thought this was udder'ly ridiculous. A couple of deputies flagged them down and made her cover up. These 2 boobs (the ones wearing badges) had to ruin it for every. I'm sure they radioed in to keep all the other cops a'breast of the situation, while they wrote her a ticket. This is a mammary that he will keep for a long time.

Launching about a month ago, we were about to push away from the dock and this guy in a proline fishing boat goes flying by me at about 15mph(small wake) right up onto the ramp. Definitely a holy $h!! moment. Sitting on the ramp still in gear he finally kills the engine and proceeds to let us all know he ok is but his boat would not come out of gear. So we help him push his boat back into the water all noticing how much gel coat he left on the concrete ramp. Back in our boat about to shove off again he decides to start the boat with his poor wife simply holding a dock line. Needless to say the boat takes off up the ramp again and we all had to yell at her to let go of the rope as was directing her to hold on and stop the boat...dumb butt!!! Anyways, we pushed him off one more time and then suggested to manually load the boat on the trailer. He had the boat for two days before said instance. I see him at the ramp all the time and he still thanks me for the help "that one day".

Of course Myth Buster did an episode on that very thing and it turns out it is quite possible to leave the trailer attached. One of the people they were working with said he had to deliver a boat and trailer to some fellas house on a lake. Turned out that there was not way to get the boat and the trailer to lake from the front of the guys house. So they went to a public ramp and put the boat in the water, trailer and all. They motored over to the guys private ramp, hooked up the trailer and pulled the boat out.

The best one I have ever seen was at the local lake I go to. This guy sent his wife up to get the truck and trailer while he stayed in the boat. She was trying to back the trailer down but was having a hard time with it. Her husband was also getting frustrated with her and started yelling at her.And i mean really yealling and cussing. She got so mad at him that she jumped out of the truck and said FINE YOU DO IT THEN. She didnt put the truck in gear or put the brake on and the truck and trailer went into the lake. They had to get a tow truck to pull it out.

last fall we were on a local notorious lake. we came upon a moomba that had 13 people on it in the party cove area. the boat obviously over capacity took on water over the bow and then kept taking it and instead of people jumping out. they were more worried about their phones. needless to say it sank up to the gunnell. well this is where it gets good....here comes ranger bob to tow the boat away....and he decides to tie to the tower. the other boat that was helping get people out of the water advised not to tow from there but ranger bob advised he knew what he was doing and he sure did.....turned that boat right over w/ one pull and now you have an upsidedown moomba sitting in the party area.

sitting at a busy ramp is always fun...love the forgot the plug folks and also the guy yelling at his wife....my wife seems to appreciate me at that moment for not acting that way.

I have spent about 20 of my 30+ years on the water and have seen quite abit....hoping to pass it on to the kids on how a family that boats together stays together. My 6yr old is in working on the 17mo old.

I suspect this goes into the near miss catagory of strange instances...

Last summer during one of our August trips, I was driving my friends malibu for him while he barefooted. He's a tall drink of water and loves to barefoot and his wife hates to pull him, so I get nominated. It was roughly 6:30 just north of San Point on the west side of Lake Havasu on a very quiet glassy morning.

I had Brian out on a good long pull and all the sudden this Sea Doo rider comes roaring towards us from the south. You can imagine some of the thoughts and phrases that were forming in my mind and mouth as I dropped Brian and the Lake Lice rider came speeding directly towards us.

As he rolled up he immediately said he was sorry for stopping us but wanted to let us know that there was a rattle snake swimming just ahead of us in the lake and didn't want my skier to get bit... All of my phrases immediately dropped and I thanked the lake lice rider profusely. Brian, still hanging out at the end of the long line was still less than amused until I circled back and told him what had gone on...

We motored up about 200 yards and sure enough, there was a 5 foot rattler swimming somewhat eradically in lovely Lake Havasu. As we neared the beast, he became increasingly agitated and struck in the air best he could from the awkard position he was in while swimming... We watched as he finally made his way to the shore and disappeared.

I have never seen anything like it in my life!!! If the Lake Lice rider happens to be a member on this board...I apologize for all the things I thought and didn't say to you!!!

There are very few people that surf on my lake as much as we do (about every weekend) and the look on peoples faces as you pass them is priceless. Sort of a look of what in the world are they doing?!

Also, the staring and finger pointing that people do that pass us on a busy night. I've had people stop and take pics of my boat when we go by. We love the attention tho and always get a kick out of their reactions.

First time out this season for a morning ride. After tossing out the line, we see a pontoon with a PCP pipe tower. And there wasn't just a few pipes there was about 100 of them holding this thing together. I was going to get a pic with my camera phone but i was laughing to hard to do it.

LMAO or the time when we went out and we surfed in between these other two boats they were just a odd look on what are you doing.

Rattlers can swim, but did it have rattles. We have what we call water rattlers over here. Look just like our rattlesnakes, only sans rattles. They will come up and pull on your fish stringer when you are wade fishing for bass/sac-a-lait.

Indeed, he did have rattles...It was pretty interesting to see... That snake being held in the picture looks like one angry critter!!!

Funny, we have seen rattle snakes in the desert...even in the RV park where we stay...but never in the water! Just never thought about it...

This year at our local lake the Sheriff was putting in and tried to launch.
The trailer wasn't quite deep enough and he goosed it to come off.
When he came off, it evidently wouldn't go into drive and he was panicking to put it into drive.

He got it in drive but he just about slammed into another boat that was docked and he put out a nice wake in a No Wake Zone.


Also this year at a customer appreciation day this guy with a new Crownline had launched. His parents parked the truck and trailer.

He was in between two docks and proceeded to make a starboard turn at low idle towards the dock. There were two people on the other side of this dock holding on to a boat. The guy started to get close to the dock, panicked and goosed the throttle. Well he slammed into the dock on the starboard transom side and just about put the people holding the boat into the water.

I took note of the Crownline and stayed well away from him.
