    22i??

im thinking about buying a new 22i boat,my ? is will i need to buy a ballast bag for a good wake or will the taps2 system work?if i do have to also buy a ballast bag where would i put it in that boat?on the floor or is there enough room in a storage compartment?the 22v is out of my price range so any help would be great.im going in halfs with my dad so im waiting on him getting back from vacation to do a demo.

Tiges are heavier than comparable boats, so the wake will be bigger than other boats without ballast. Wakes can always be bigger, so ballast is always a plus. If you get 8 people in the boat, you get a pretty darn good wake.

TAPS is really more of a wake shaping device that works together with the Convex V hull. It acts like a giant rocker which does affect wake shape and, to some extent, wake size.

Most Tiges like a 50/50 weight distribution if you do add weight or people. You can always fine tune the attitude of the boat with TAPS.

I purchased a new 2006 22i this summer, okay wake board boat, but if your into slalom skiing, I would rate the wake VERY below average, and forget about barefooting.

If you can swing the extra cash I would go for the 22v. Its a great wakeboard boat and a friend of mine who skis likes the ski wake better than his 21i.

I have a 22i and have 325# of lead it. Split 60% in back and 40% up front. With just the Wife and Junior it the wake is awesome, the more people (wieght) you put in it the better it gets. There is plenty of room in the storage compartments if you want to sacrifice the space.
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

I own a '05 22I. We bought the I because we liked the layout in the boat much better than the V. The way the seats are set up most the of the rear passengers can watch the wakeboarders without having to twist around. The wake when set up with proper ballast is a good as the V. Remember, it is the same hull with the weight of the motor placed in rear instead of middle. Proper ballast location neutralizes that advantage.
If I were to make the decision today I would purchase the I again.
