    Ski Dock Austin

I just popped over to the Ski Dock Austin to schedule service and I noticed that they don't seem to be representing Tige anymore, looks like the picked up Centurion.

Hmmmm I wonder who will represent the Austin area now? Will they still do warranty work on my 17?

Man I do like that Ri237.

That is a bummer. I really don't want to drive to Houston to look at new Tiges I kinda got the feeling the last time I talked to them that they were not quite happy with how their sells of Tiges were going.

I was bummed to hear the news of that too, but I'm sure there is another dealer in ATX that will snag the Tige brand and excel with it. For the mean time, I have no doubt that Texas Tige (Conroe) will provide any support for you guys that need it. We have our Tige Owners Reunion at Bethy Creek (Trinity River) Oct 13-15. Would love to meet some of the ATX Tige crew. Its not as pretty as the Colorado River chain of lakes, but its deep and butter for as long as your heart desires.

I heard it was for different reasons, but its all hearsay. Centurion seems to be offering an upper level product compared to previous years, but the price tag reflects top end Correct Craft pricing, which I feel like will be a tough sale comparatively. Every other slip on Lake Austin is either a Tige or a G. Im sure someone will scoop up the account quickly.

I stopped in there once. Seem like great guys. Are they still selling MB with the change?

They picked up MB late last year/early this year as a price point boat.

It looks like Bay Marine near Lake Travis picked Tige up in Austin, though I have no experience with them. They even have a 18 R23e listed on the site

Oh dear god. Bay Marine on LBJ is not a place I'd trust to work on my boat, unfortunately I've taken my previous boat and waverunners to them for service and needless to say I'm not a fan of them at all, super shady and always looking to rip you off, I've got several examples, but I'll keep the negativity to myself. This sucks. I just bought a Tige' Z3 w/out a trailer and now the dealer that I bought it from and promised to deal with my trailerless boat ditches Tige'.....wow, just WTH...not a happy camper.

I bought my RZ4 less than 2 years ago from Ski Dock. I've actually been dealing with them a lot for a cracked tower and some other issues. I'm waiting to spill those beans until I hear back from Tige. But, I was disappointed to hear Ski Dock was no longer going to be offering Tige. I was assured they would still be doing warranty work though. I have never really had a bad experience at Ski Dock other than normal dealer shenanigans and them just being so busy all the time. Everyone there, especially the Pro Shop guys, have always been really nice. However, I've been rubbed the wrong way recently. When I asked them about adding Taps3 to my AVX RZ4, they said it was around 8k to add it to a boat. They immediately tried to get me into a new MB or Centurion instead. Claiming they both made a superior wave to the Tige, including the new RZX3. I of course declined. I have come to find out the taps3 can be done for less than 3k. I also asked for them on Friday to email me the information for their Tige customer service Rep (about the tower) and still haven't received that info. So I honestly have mixed feelings about the place now.

That is also really disappointing to hear about Bay Marine. Sounds like getting to a solid Tige dealer just became a much longer trip.

I received a call today from two separate Ski Dock guys that I feel is worth mentioning. After talking with both of them, I need to clarify some things I addressed in my last post, which I’m leaving unedited. First off, a lot of my frustrations are really stemming from Tige themselves and not Ski Dock. The recent problems with the RZ4 have really pushed my patience.

I’ve had several issues with my RZ4 that has around 175 hours on it and was purchased new less than 2 years ago. There are several issues that I wouldn’t necessarily consider major. But are still issues. This was my first brand new boat. I understand things break and some could be considered normal wear and tear. But none of which I feel should be happening on a less than 2 year old boat that was over $100k. That being said, other issues I consider large or totally unacceptable. These include the Tige touch screen going completely ape S, making it unusable, transom remote going to S becoming unusable, bimini ripping in several spots within weeks of having the boat, several ripped seems around handles and other areas (also within weeks of having the boat), AVX not working, and now the tower cracking. Again these are issue I consider major. I’m not even talking about all the other small stuff.

Again, I understand all boats have problems. But my patience is wearing thin. I realize things break. All I ask is these things be addressed and fixed. The guys at Ski Dock have repaired or replaced every single problem I’ve brought to their attention with absolutely zero push back. The most recent issue with the tower, which is probably the biggest one, has been a bit of an ordeal. To sum it up. Tige no longer uses the Alpha Z Tower, so parts for it are apparently hard to come by. The guys over at Ski Dock told me immediately after finding the cracks that they were having trouble getting the base pieces from Tige. If I remember correctly, they told me another customer put an order in for the pieces back in Januaray and still hasn't’ received them. Needless to say I expressed waiting on a major part for over 6 months was unacceptable. I believe this was about 2 months ago. At that time the Ski Dock guys expressed they would reach out to Tige and see if something else could be done. The thought was since this was a known issue with the Z and with no replacement parts in site, maybe Tige would offer some kind of deal to put a completely new tower on. I even expressed I would be willing to fork over some cash to get this done.

Fast forward to last week. The guys at Ski Dock informed me Tige would not be doing any kind of new tower deal, so we would have to wait on the parts. They said they were hoping to see them soon. But previous promises hadn’t been fulfilled. Needless to say I wasn’t happy. I asked that they send me whatever contact info they had for tige and I would be reaching out to them. Even then, I immediately went on the tige website and filled out a very long customer service message expressing my issues and needing someone to contact me. This was Thursday. I have not heard anything from Tige.

In this same conversation with Ski Dock, I was told they would no longer be an authorized tige dealer. But they would still be doing warranty work. I also expressed my interest in adding the Taps 3 system to the RZ4. I was told it was expensive and the last boat they did it on cost in the 7-8k range. He told me he would recommend putting that money towards a new boat. He did suggest going to an MB or Centurian for a better wave than even the infamous RXZ3. That being said, considering the tower news, the loss of a Tige dealership, and the taps 3 cost, I probably took the comments with too much salt. I don’t think there was any intention there to slam Tige. Its also worth noting that this was not an official quote for the Taps3 add and Ski Dock definitely didn't say they wouldn’t do it. Also, the only official numbers I’ve received elsewhere are about $2500 for just the parts. No instal. My previous comments on here probably paint the wrong picture with cost of the Taps3. But I will see what the other tige dealers I’ve contacted end up saying.

I will say. Any bad feelings about Ski Dock were pretty much washed away with their phone calls today. Both Sebastian in the pro shop and Winston in service expressed their concerns about my satisfaction and assured me they would do anything they could to get me where I need to be. I really think that says a lot about what they’re doing over there. I would invite anyone in Austin or the surrounding areas to give them a call if you’re having doubts.

I was also informed that the tower base replacement came in today. But no hardware. They expect it to arrive any day. Hopefully I wont see the same issues with the replacement.

That being said, I can’t say I’m in a great place with the Tige brand right now.
