If one was considering pulling off their taps 3 plates and installing GSA plates only, without moving the actuators from their mounts on the transom, what would the outcome be? Jason, I'm sure this is the first thing you tried.

I imagine the GSA tab would not retract as high as a normal GSA set up, and it would also travel down much further than a normal GSA set up. Down travel is easy to dial in and up travel would require a mounting location closer to the hinge, most likely or maybe all the way out to the end of the plate. Running close to the hinge could cause an overcurrent code do due loss of mechanical leverage.

And what is the gain of all this work? For me, I'm looking for the best wave without running lead. If I could get a better wave running stock and PNP than that may be something to think about. Apples to apples, just switching tabs will give me a longer wave? Taller wave? Something different all together?

the opposite actually. If run off 17 year mounting positions then the plates would be stowed way too high and not get nearly enough travel down. Taps 3 plates have a lower actuator mount that is around 7 inches off the hull, the plate also has that step up. The overall taps 3 plate is rather short, I dont have a plate in front of me but I want to say roughly 18 inches at the outer edge and 13 inches at the center. short plate.

With GSA you have a plate that is nearly 2 and half times the length and that goes for the lower mounting position as well. With the plate being so long, you need the actuator in a position that can net you the most travel, The flatter the plane, the more total travel you have, but more load on the actuator you induce.

Taps 3 is currently stowed around 9.5 degrees but should be stowed closer to 15. They should be deployed 45-50 degrees down.

Gsa needs roughly 25-30 degrees stowed and only 15 degrees down max.

Jason, I'm sure this is the first thing you tried. Never even tried it because physics and math dont lie. Take one look at the difference in plates and you will realize you cant run the actuator that high up the hull and get the travel necessary to even make the system function in any capacity.

Not really, its all tied together. You dont make a change that affects stowed angle without also affecting the deployed angle. Which is why the key is in the upper mounting location. You want to squeeze as much as possible without exceeding the PSI load rating of Lenco

And what is the gain of all this work? For me, I'm looking for the best wave without running lead. If I could get a better wave running stock and PNP than that may be something to think about. Apples to apples, just switching tabs will give me a longer wave? Taller wave? Something different all together? The gain would'nt be anything really if you arent going to weight it really heavy, GSA needs more weight to wake up then taps 3 plain and simple. Which system is better once you hammer it with weight? I think its GSA by a landslide

Are we talking Rzx3 specifically or for the whole lineup? One of my riding buddies is trying to decide which route to go.

              What exactly are you asking?

Is the GSA strictly better on the rzx3? Wondering how taps 3 compares to gsa on a Z3 with the deeper v hull. If I recall right I remember people saying GSA is better on the flat hulls.

Gsa needs more weight, Hull doesn’t matter. The new b52 has a ton of deadrise.

Well boat is back and has new taps 3 tabs and rams mounted where the 2018's are so fingers crossed tomorrow at 6:30 everything works. Taking a guy out that surfs behind an Epic with 4000lbs of ballast hop my little R20 shows it up we will switch to his boat for the 2nd session

I haven't given an Epic it's day in court, but unless he's running a lot of lead or water weight on top of the tanks it's not 4k. Also curious if he's running a shaper. Next question/guess is that it's the Merc 8.1 Horizon powering it.
Give him some pulls using his Merc Smart Tow and be happy when you get back in your boat.

If it is the 8.1 Horizon do side by side impeller changes and you win...again
                      win...again.

Only thing "Epic" is the name on the boat IMO

Ya he was bragging about the 4K lol I'll let him keep thinking that. Honestly know nothing else about his boat but will find out in 20minutes. Stoked to see if my boat is fixed and rider my new board for the second time might even wakeboard.

Boat surfed perfectly still need to dial in ballast fill times but I am happy the taps 3 worked. Wakeboarded also little rusty but really is a clean wake.

Should have surfed the epic first we went behind my boat and he didn't want to change. Buuuut got the open lazy alarm for the second time this year.

I could have sworn the newer models were 4k Subfloor.....

They may be, but I've had to service the gate valves and I just don't see how that tank cavity could be 2k both sides. kinda hard to get a tape in there to confirm volume.
Im really just not a fan, but like I said, haven't surfed one. Maybe I will have to get real flexible and insert foot in mouth.
