Update ..... boat still in the shop. They say the surf system is working but its still throwing the pdm codes in the diagnostic screen. Here we are ran it 3 weekends and been in the shop every week after. So roughly 9 days at home the rest at the dealer. Thats after replacing the cat concerters twice already. All this by 50hrs , someone needs to get this figured out.

Did they replace actuators or not?? Have they swapped PDM?? Tige has released a whole trouble shooting tree for taps3 issues.
My big question is what other codes are you getting in engine side. Two sets of cats are ridiculous. Are you getting short term fuel trim limit codes on both banks?? Have had three boats now that suck water back down exhaust and thru cats all the way down to exhaust manifold due to bad gasket alignment at V-band clamp between manifolds.
Two boats just caused heaters in wideband o2 to go which led to water diagnosis, but last boat had STFT codes and when you looked at diacom you could see that 02 sensor believed it was running crazy lean. So in turn computer lengthens injector pulse time for that bank which is going to load up cats with fuel.
It's always easy to armchair QB this stuff, but two sets of cats would lead me to believe there are other problems that aren't being caught. Just seems weird.
Sorry you are having problems. I would verify that your dealer is actually COMMUNICATING with Tige and Indmar and not just ordering parts and changing them. Have to have a diagnosis in order to cure.Last edited by freeheel4life; 07-29-2017, 01:41 AM.

They replaced all actuators and the pdm . They had a tige and indmar rep come out. They said there may be water getting in and that they have had this problem. They explaimed last night that there are new cats on some kind of post or something. They put these on so we will see. Im just so frustrated. If you wanna know what I did , come with me next time...

There was a bad run of Taps 3 actuators. See what Lenco decided to do was change the inner seal to save a buck without telling anyone. Its affecting, Supra, Tige everyone. I just lost an actuator a few days ago. Lenco has done a redesign and Tige has over 40 hours on this new design without any issue. If you have an over current, 9 times out of ten its because the seal is toast and their is water in it. The new actuators just landed, and dealers should have no issues getting them to customers asap.
If you have a hair of mechanical understanding, you can swap them out without taking the boat to the dealer. Its a matter of 3 screews, installing a new deutch connector and reinstalling the new actuator. Simple if you dont mind the hassle.Germaine Marine

The actuator issue is a lenco BS move, that still is an issue into 18's... trust me I have one. As for the cat stuff, I havent had that problem yet. I do have two actuators on their way to me now direct from Tige.Germaine Marine

I can remember water in actuators back to the early days of Surf gate. Doesnt seem like a new issue for the actuators, just new to Tige with the release of TAPS3.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

You have seen makers go to the different series of actuators based on their specific use. You have also seen Lenco revamp certain design features for the towboat market. This recent issue isnt tige specific... right now supras are coming in right and left with lenco trouble. Lenco has since released a notice to Tige and all the dealers. This specific issue is a direct product flaw...... which lenco has informed everyone of, and fixed. It isnt a Tige specific issue. I do know most of the glued seals are failing within the first 15-20 hours.Germaine Marine

This was my PDM on new to me 2017 Z3...sent back to dealer and they replaced all 3 actuators. This weekend will be the test to see if that fixed my problem of not being able to surf left and the boat pulling a bit while underway. I must say my local dealer was great about taking care of it quickly.Last edited by Torch; 05-25-2018, 06:14 PM.

If it keeps happening(which it may in the water) the plates are camming up and binding. Theres some wedges that are the fix. If you go into surf demo mode and have someone deploy the tabs while you push up on the underside of the plate you will know for sure. If while pushing up a bit and the plate rolls over the wrong way and actuator binds up then you have found the problem.

as you can see Im just pushing up with 2 fingers.

I keep a suck gate in the boat just in case the Taps isn’t working. Always saves the day! I have a 2017 Z3 as well and had the actuators replaced at end of last season due to failure. The Nauticurl saved the last two weeks of the season Until I could get to the dealer. Tige convered the replacement on warranty. I’m running 600# leadwake!

Here they are. These are the original versions. There was some billet aluminum ones that Tige made for a while after the plastics. Don't have any in my inventory to take a pic of.
Kinda no brainer but just to be clear...you have to drill thru the transom side of hinge and then bolt the block to the stainless non moving transom side.Last edited by freeheel4life; 05-26-2018, 05:25 PM.
